Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A newly married couple’s vacation retreat is suddenly derailed when the husband, ultra-successful business tycoon David Dolan, is kidnapped and held for ransom. It’s up to David’s trusty assistant Portia, to negotiate the terms and figure out who is behind the abduction.

Thoughts

On a boat masquerade party, a genuinely terrifying masked man flirts with a cocktail waitress, Piper. The masked man gets handsy and aggressive, but Portia shuts him down. As she is closing up the bar, the masked man attacks her. She maces him, but the man charges at her, and they fall into the ocean. The waitress is presumed dead.

Eight years later, Portia receives a flash drive with evidence on it. She is a personal assistant for a man named David. (For some reason she speaks with a fake British accent, while working with him, but only then.) He is dead sexy and a very successful businessman. Portia books a trip to the Caymen Islands for David and his newly pregnant wife, Bridget. (Even though she doesn’t trust Bridget and thinks she is a golddigger.) Porta is undercover or something. She receives more evidence (A heart-shaped necklace) on David and his operations.

In the Caymen Islands, David and Bridget are swept away in luxurious beach views. One of the hotel staff, Richard, has his eye on David. (Like, maybe in a sexy way?) I’m not sure. Next, we get a montage of David shirtless frocking on the beach. (Bridget is there too.) Later, at night by the beach, David gifts Bridget the heart-shaped necklace.) He tells her it is a family heirloom.

Portia arrives at the resort and is fascinated with Bridget’s necklace. She asks to touch it and weirds Bridget out. David and Bridget have another romantic montage where I envisioned myself in Bridget’s shoes. Then they have sexy time on the boar, and Bridget’s necklace falls off. The sex is interrupted by Richard with a gun. He kidnaps David and Richard isn’t a bellhop, he is an even more gay profession, Pirate. The Pirate demands a ransom from Bridget.

Bridget is dumb and doesn’t know how to get money, so she goes to Portia. Portia meets with Mr. Vincent to loan her the money. He agrees but has conditions to the deal. (What they are, I’m not sure. I think she is on a time limit?) Portia leaves with a purse full of money and a tracking device, or maybe it is a mobile hotspot.

The ransom meeting happens. Bridget exchanges the bag of money for David but gets kidnapped herself by the Pirate. David offers up his wallet and the necklace, but Bridget is still taken after being punched in the face. Portia watches the whole thing with binoculars.

Bridget is working with the Pirate! She faked the pregnancy and everything. They realized that the bag is short.

David is rude to Portia and tells her that she looks like a pig with lipstick or whatever the saying is. Even though the writes her off, Portia discovers Bridget’s plan. Portia calls Bridget and tells her they are both survivors and should have been working together the whole time. Portia wants the necklace in exchange for one million of David’s money.

The plan goes array. The Pirate is killed by David, who thinks he is saving his wife, he gives her back the necklace and puts it on her. Portia frames David for embezzling money and calls her accomplice, who tells her to focus on the REAL reason she is there. (The necklace.)

David discovers that Portia and Bridget are working together. Bridget tells him that she is not pregnant and never loved him, then she runs away. David grabs the necklace.

Portia meets up with her sister Brooke in a car. Portia shows her all the money that she stole and talks about failing to get the heart-shaped necklace. Portia is tired, and her sister takes her home. Brooke comforts her sister and tells her that she is strong.

Alone in her home, well she is with her cat, Portia hears a noise and is attacked by David. David knows about the setup, the ransom money, and her fake accent. Portia tells David why she did it. Her sister was Piper, the waitress from the Carribian cruise, and David was the man in the mask. The necklace was hers. This payback was a long time coming. David tries to kill Portia, but Brooke shoots him dead.

The sister takes a cruise six months later and throws the locket into the ocean, just like Titanic. Then Portia donates all the stolen money to charity because it is the right thing to do.
