Thoughts
Michelle is a busy single mom raising her track star daughter Haley.
Not 5 mins into the movie, and we get a running montage. Haley and her frenemy Abby compete for first place. Abby runs into Haley’s lane and causing Haley to tumble out of the race. Haley has an outburst. Her hot male coach tells Haley to cool down because she is in anger management and on her final warning.
Abby swears she isn’t intentionally messing with Haley. Her boyfriend Dylan wants to take Abby out for a movie, but he is also in a relationship with an intense female track coach named Gina.
While the girls are showering up after practice, Haley hears a commotion in the locker room and finds Abby dead. A memorial happens for the dead teenager, and Gina is overly comforting to Dylan, which gets the high school moms talking.
Haley is upset that she was angry with Abby the day she died. She has a hard time forgiving herself and has an outburst over her mother’s pancakes. Things get worst for Haley when she is arrested for Abby’s murder. Haley’s shoe prints were found at the scene, and the shoes (that were missing) are in her room with DNA evidence on them.
While Haley is on house arrest, Michelle talks to Lawyer Luke to devise a plan and then talks with the Hunk Coach. The hunk coach remembers Coach Gina having the shoes in her office, Haley hits her house arrest bracelet, and it literally falls off. With her newfound freedom, Haley goes for a jog? Not sure why. Michelle almost catches her daughter sneaking out, and Haley has another rage outburst.
Coach Gina realizes that her days are numbered and starts covering her tracks. She tells Dylan that she is looking for jobs out of state, and he gets very possessive. (It is hard to take him seriously tho, the man is just a cute goofball.)
Lawyer Luke calls Michelle while she is in the bathtub, and they have some serious sexual tension going on.
Haley takes off the ankle bracelet again and goes for a nighttime jog. Then she runs sprints at the track. She sees someone lurking outside the school.
Michelle and Elaina’s mother, Brooke, plan for Elaina to come over. They are the family’s only friends now. The first hang-out isn’t a happy one. Elaina and Brooke tell them that Coach Gina was killed by a shot put ball. Haley tells Elaina to be careful. Elaina foes the opposite and starts talking to Dylan. (Which seems like a bad idea!)
The detectives are back! They want to check Haley’s ankle bracelet because some posts on social media imply that she had a bad relationship with Coach Gina. They take the ankle bracelet to run tests on it. Lawyer Luke defends his client and bonds with Michelle afterward.
Haley decides to open up with Elaina. She shows her how the ankle bracelet comes off and recalls when she ran into Coach Gina AND GOT IN AN ARGUMENT WITH HER. Haley pushed Coach Gina down and got scratched on the arm. It looks very incriminating. Elaina is worried for her friend and agrees to sneak Haley out to talk with Dylan.
Haley screams at Dylan and runs through her theory. Dylan shuts it down quickly when he tells her the reason they were spending so much time together is that Coach Gina is His BIRTHMOTHER!!!!!! Haley leaves and is promptly kidnapped while walking alone in an alley.
Michelle notices that her daughter isn’t in the house, finally. Michelle stops by Brooke and Elaina’s house. Brooke tells Michelle that she doesn’t know where Haley is, AND she is probably guilty. Brooke is aggressive and controlling. Michelle is starting to consider that her daughter is guilty until Lawyer Luke calls to tell Michelle that the IP address of the social media post came from Brooke and Elaina’s home.
Of course, Brooke has Haley tied up in the garage. Brooks has a large pair of pruning shears and plans to force Haley to admit to the murders. Michelle attempts to save her daughter but is hit in the head with a shovel.
When the mother and daughter come to, they learn that Brooke and Elaina worked together. Elaina killed Abby, and Brooke helped cover it up, taking out Coach Gina because she had found the sneakers and was going to turn them into the police. Michelle attacks Brooke, and the detective (and Lawyer Luke) shows up just in time.
Haley is free to run her aggression out. She might start dating Dylan because he is also in therapy. (Mental health is important!) Speaking of dating, Michelle and Lawyer Luke are also dating!
Side Note
Minority Report: Abby, Elaina, Abby’s parents,
