Thoughts
Ashley is a popular girl with terrible fashion, a cutie boyfriend, and horrible cramps. The cramps turn to liver failure, and she is suddenly in need of a donor. Ashley, being high maintenance, has the rarest blood type. Her parents are rattled because they lost their son Scott the year before to a freak accident.
Katie is a loser at school who also volunteers at the hospital. When she learns of Ashley’s situation, she wants to help. Katie’s drugie sister, Sarah, won’t sign the permission form unless they get something out of it. Katie forges the papers, and the surgery goes well. Ashley’s parents are thrilled and offer to pay for her college or buy her a car. (Both of which she declines.)
Ashley and Katie grow closer. They become besties, complete with BFF necklaces. That is until Sasha finds out what Katie did. Katie lies and tells her sister that she is getting paid $5000 and expects the money in a month. Sasha is sure to visit Ashley’s room to see who should be paying the bill.
Ashley gets a nice welcome home party, and Katie can’t even get a ride from the hospital. After she walks home, her sister’s stoner boyfriend makes a pass at her, and then Katie is forced to clean up the house… after having had surgery. Sarah and hot boyfriend are the WORST.
Katie spends time at Ashley’s bonding over their matching scars and having to pee all the time. At Sasha’s request, Katie snoops around the house for stuff to sell for money. She steals a diamond bracelet, and Ashley’s mother immediately notices that it is missing.
Sasha follows Ashley around town and gets herself and Katie invited over for dinner. Before the dinner, Katie comes clean about how terrible her sister is and admits Sasha stole her pain pills. THAT MAKES THE DINNER SUPER AWKWARD. Sasha blackmails Ashley and demands money, or she will tell everyone that Katie forged the consent forms. She sticks to $5000. Katie apologizes for her sister, and Ashley is like WTF?!?!?!?!
Katie promises to talk to her sister, but things get heated, and Sasha pushes her sister too far. Katie pushes Sasha and accidentally kills her. Katie stages it to look like Sasha tripped and hit her head while drinking and taking pills. Ashley’s parents agree to take Katie in instead of placing her in social services.
The girls go back to school, and Katie is living her best life following in Ashley’s shadow. They even wear the same clothing. Ashley starts to have doubts about Sasha’s death and talks to her boyfriend, Jordan. They go to the crime scene to look for the diamond bracelet. Katie beats them to it, but she is threatened by the hot boyfriend who now wants money for some reason.
While at the hospital for a post-surgery follow-up, Katie steals some drugs to give to the hot boyfriend. The meet-up happens in a park at night, which is how all drug things go in Lifetime movies? The hot boyfriend gets rapey, and Katie stabs him with a syringe.
She stages it to look like an overdose. (Even so, it isn’t looking good for Katie.)
The necklaces come off, and Ashley is done with Katie. Jordan encourages Ashley to tell her mother what is going on. Katie can’t have that and knocks Ashley out before she can talk.
Ashley wakes up zip-tied to the steering wheel of Scott’s car. Katie sees no other way out other than staging Ashley’s suicide. Ashley tries to reason with her ex-BFF, but it is too late. Katie kisses Ashley on the forehead and starts the car. Then she writes the suicide letter.
Ashley’s parents find her and cut her free. Katie tries to explain but ends up sounding crazier by the second. She cries hysterically. Ashley kicks Katie randomly and screams, “We’re NOT your family!”
The girls come to an understanding in juvenile detention, and Ashley shows off her dead brother’s car. The end!
Side Note
Minority Report: Jacob, Mr. Landau, Detective, Doctor,
Tess being horrified by everything doesn’t count as jump scares. She is just an over reacter.
