Synopsis (via Lifetime)
Starring Christina Cox, Marie Avgeropoulos, and Casper Van Dien. When a genius computer hacker is framed for the murder of her friend, she must use all her illegal skills to find the real killer and escape the detective hot on her trail.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
“Teen” Hacker and fashion victim Holly hacks into the records of a college to see if her friend (who looks like she is 30 at least) got into the school of her dreams. When she isn’t downloading motherboards, or whatever Holly hits DA CLUB with her friend Blake to find college guys. (Blake finds Casper Van Dein, so good for her!) All Holly wants to know is the wifi password.
Casper Van Dein takes the teenager to an abandoned couch and gives her a nightcap that looks disgusting. Then they start making out, and Blake starts convulsing from an apparent OD, and Casper Can Dein freaks out. Holly is distracted by a foosball table and a guy named Dan. When she finally realizes her friend is missing, she finds Blake not breathing on the couch. Casper Van Dein attacks Holly and runs away.
Detectives question Holly and suspect her of murder. They also think she is on drugs. They put Holly into Juvi and place her grandmother/guardian into a home. (SHADY PINES, MA!)
Lifetime’s Where’s Waldo, Sophie Gendron, shows up here as Brooke’s mom and does some convincing crying! She is questioned by the police and wants Holly charged as an adult. This happens, I guess, because Holly is transferred to another prison. The van is stopped, and the fugitives are freed. (Don’t ask, just roll with it.)
On the run now, Holly dyes the red streaks out of her hair as a disguies but sticks with being a brunette. Holly’s first stop is going BACK TO SCHOOL and crying with a memorial picture of Blake. Then she goes to a diner and looks for the men from DA CLUB online.
Holly moves in with Dan, who is cool with it and helps her find Casper Van Dein. They track him down by his long fingernails for guitar picking? (Gross)
Holly poses as a singing telegram performer to check on her Grandma or sorry “GM.” (Weird nickname, is her Grandma a General manager? IDK!) Holly promises to catch the man who killed Blake and get her GM out of the home.
Holly and Dan break into Casper Van Dien’s house and finds drugs in a stringless guitar. It is Centinal, the same drugs used to kill Blake. She sends the evidence to the Detective virtually.
The cops want Holly to wear a wire and get a confession from Casper Van Dien. She poses as a sexy teen at one of his guitar shows and tries to get him to take her to his house and incriminate himself. It works, and Casper Van Dien takes Holly to a remote cabin in the woods.
Casper Van Dien’s character is a sexual predator and has been using the false name “Spencer Oliphant.” He has a history of taking advantage of underage girls. The police rush to save Holly, whose sting operation has gone array.
Holly pulls a “stun gun” on Spencer or whatever his name is. He pulls out a sniper rifle, which seems excessive TBH.
They run around the woods until the Detective finally arrives. She tried to talk Casper Van Dein down, but Holly shoots him dead. The backup police arrive, and all is good! Holly and her GM are home. Holly and Dan are together and not fugitives at 17. (Even though I’m pretty sure Holly is 25, at least!)
Side Note
Lifetime’s police procedural phase (2010-2014) was incredibly dull. Think Law & Order without the “dun duns.”
