Synopsis (via Netflix)

A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia, and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Lindsay Lohan is back after a 10-year hiatus from acting, and we. Are. Here. For. It!!!!!

Lindsay Lohan plays celebutante Sierra Belmont, which is a great drag name. Sierra sleeps in satin sheets and is awakened by a hotel courtesy call. She happens to be staying at her family’s resort and is the heiress to the company. Her father, played by 90’s heartthrob Jack Wagner, has flown Sierra out for Christmas and wants her to be “Vice President of Atmosphere.”

Sierra insists that she isn’t spoiled and complains to her secret influencer boyfriend, Tad, while being fed caviar and champagne.

Jake Russell owns the Northstar lodge and attempts to make a deal with Mr. Belmont while skiing down the slopes. (Hallmark could never get THIS snow budget!) After the run, they talk about business in the world-class resort. Jake asks Mr. Belmont to invest in his lodge, which trains young skiers. Mr. Belmont declines.

Sierra heads out of the elevator, looking fabulous in a red Valenyagi dress, oversized sunglasses, and a floppy hat. Jake runs into her with a hot chocolate and ruins her haute couture jumpsuit. She has Jack removed from the resort and then goes to brunch with her father. The introduction of Tad doesn’t go well because Mr. Belmont is not impressed.

Back at the North Star Lodge, things are pretty pathetic. Jack doesn’t have enough ski lodgers to cover expenses. He has a daughter named Avy and a drawer in his office filled with Christmas angel ornaments. Ava makes a Christmas wish with Santa at the lodge. (He has perfect teeth.)

Tad is reckless and inconsiderate of everyone. He takes Sierra in a fancy sports car for a photo shoot on top of a mountain. On the ride, Sierra sings Jingle Bell Rock, and Tad tells her that she is a little pitchy and changes the station. When they arrive at the top, they don’t even know how to unhook the snowmobile from the car. Tad is hopelessly lost and speeds to a dangerous part of the mountain. Here, Tad decides to propose to Sierra with a gaudy ring. He takes a selfie, and then Christmas magic sends a gust of wind that blows Sierra over the cliff. (Tad also falls down the mountain.)

Jake comes across Sierra in her hot pink snowsuit and recuses her. He takes her to the hospital, and Sierra has amnesia. She has no money, ID, or place to stay. Jake offers to let her stay at his lodge. She doesn’t want to stay with a serial killer but reluctantly goes with him.

Meanwhile, Tad is stranded in the woods and comes across a fishing hut occupied by a confused man named Ralph. He offers Tad some coffee.

Sierra wakes up and lets Avy names her Sarah. They go down for breakfast, and Jake offers to make her eggs; Sarah insists on cooking herself but has no idea what she is doing! It is some good comedy.

The doctors recommend that Sarah gets back to her normal routine, and she helps around the lodge but fails at everything, giving Lindsay Lohan a lot of chances to work on pratfalls and physical comedy. (In another era, she could have been a RomCom superstar. She nails it.)

At the town Christmas Tree Lighting, Jake opens up about his wife’s death and shares how hard it has been on his family. They find a snow globe that reminds Sarah of something from her childhood. Jake buys it for her in hopes her memory will return soon. Jack encourages Sarah to sing, but she is convinced she can’t.

The family teaches Sarah how to do things around the lodge slowly, and she takes to it and has pride in her work; they go skiing, and she is still bad at that, but Jake romantically saves her.

Sarah finds Alejandra looking through old photos of her daughter and crying. Sarah comforts her and listens to the memories. Alejandra shares that they might sell the lodge, and Sarah thinks the family traditions must continue. As she puts away the photo album, she finds an angel ornament stuffed into a desk drawer. When she asks Jake about it, she tells Sarah that it was his wife Carla’s.

After four days, Sarah worried that no one was looking for her. She decides that since Jake and his family are so caring and friendly that she will double down and help them save the lodge. Sarah plans a big event contacting old guests to attend, and Jake is afraid to plan for the future because he is still mourning the past. Sarah tells him that it is a celebration of what he built with Carla and he agrees to put on the event.

The only problem is, is that Sierra’s dad IS looking for her. He calls the sheriff to help solve the mystery.

The Christmas Eve event is a huge success. Past guests appreciate all that Jake and his family have done for them. Jake doesn’t take all the credit and has everyone cheer for…

“SIERRA!” Tad screams as he runs into the party. It all comes back to Sarah, and she remembers who she is. Although that isn’t who she is anymore. Tad and her father take her back to the hotel. Jake, Avy, and Alejandra watch sadly as she leaves.

Back at the hotel, Sierra feels unsettled and remembers all the fantastic times she spent with Jake. (Or a montage of clips from the movie that we have just been watching.) She cries because the life she has might not be the life she wants.

The hotel staff is confused when Sierra makes her bed and requests to cook her breakfast. Then she does a press conference and thanks Jake and the lodge for taking care of her. It causes a rush of called to the lodge looking for rooms and sells out the lodge.

Avy and Jake watch the news coverage on the TV. Avy tells Jake that she wishes for someone to love him. She asks him if he ever said he liked her and encourages him to tell her how he feels.

Jake rushes to tell Sierra how he feels, and the father/daughter rushes to the hotel in a horse-drawn carriage.

Meanwhile, Sierra tells her father that she doesn’t want to take the role of VP of Atmosphere. He is proud of his daughter for forging her own path. Sierra next breaks up with Tad, who is performatively upset. Then he asks if he can post about it on social media and asks Terry for a date. Tad is bi!

Jake finds Sierra in the courtyard full of Christmas trees. She tells him that she is planning on staying to help run the inn and be with Jake and his family. They kiss and are interrupted by Avy and Mr. Belmont. It is a Christmas Sierra will never forget. (Until her next head trauma.)

Side Note
