Synopsis (via Hallmark)
Hayley is an interior designer who plans to surprise her recently widowed mother, Patricia, with the perfect holiday present: the extended family she knows her mom yearns for.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Haley is a social media influencer/Interior Decorator who goes Live while walking around her home. She recently lost her father and shares personal memories and holiday tips. A woman named Lolly Peterson calls after seeing the Livestream. Lolly offers an opportunity for Hailey to enter into a design challenge that will provide a showcase.
Before she goes, Haley checks in on her mother, Pat, who isn’t doing well since her father’s death. To cheer up her mother, Haley gets out a box of old things and finds a photo of her mother with her brother Gordon. It doesn’t cheer up Patricia because they got split up in foster care and lost touch. Patricia tells her daughter to let it go, but Haley takes a photo instead.
Haley’s friend Sarah advises her friend that she shouldn’t meddle but helps anyway. Sarah is pretty good at calling people with no problem! They track down a Gordon who might be thee Gordon, and Haley heads up to a cabin rental business he owns. She pretends to be interested in renting a cabin and tours the town with a handsome man named Blake.
Blake invites Haley to stay in town for an extra day to see a meteor shower. Blake takes Haley to lunch and then to the town Christmas market. He introduces Haley to a woodworker named Brianna, who creates unique furniture. She is also Gordon’s daughter and a huge fan of Haley.
Haley’s mom starts to come out of her depression when she runs to an old friend at a bookstore. The friend invites Patricia to read to children who are growing up in non-traditional homes like Patricia did when she was a child.
Gordon and Haley talk, and she tells him about her father. When she asks Gordon about his family, he says he has no siblings. She gets upset and runs off and comes clean about Blake about her intentions of being in town. He isn’t surprised and tells her that her lies have been pretty vague.
The bad news keeps coming because Haley loses the showcase and is placed in the hallway instead. She feels bad that she got Bridget’s hopes up. She feels even worse when she is about to tell Gordon about him being her possible uncle, and he drops down from a heart attack. Leaving him in the hospital and unable to host a big-town charity event.
Haley volunteers Blake’s model home cabin to host the event, and he reluctantly agrees and is hesitant because the cabin isn’t finished. Still, after a decoring montage, it really comes together.
Gordon is out of the hospital to hold his charity event; he is ready to drink and party. Gordon makes a speech at the party, and the charity event is for the foster home that split up Patricia’s family. Haley leaves town.
Bridget and Gordon talk. He tells her the truth about his choice to cut Patricia out of his life. She is upset that he took her family away from her because she never had the luxury of making that decision.
Patrica is thriving back home, and Haley is happy to see her mother in a good place. So why not reintroduce her to her long lost brother who abandoned her, ’cause that is what happens! Gordon explains he enlisted in the military because he couldn’t take care of an 11-year-old child at 18. Patricia forgives him.
They share a Christmas dinner meal around the table, and Patricia gives him a letter; she wrote them by hand every year, and so did Gordon.
Blake and Haley decided to go into business together and live in the town with the cabins or whatever.
