Synopsis (via Hallmark)
Three brothers get the surprise of their lives when they are forced to work together to care for a baby over the holidays. As they slowly get the hang of things, they find themselves on unexpected journeys of self-discovery and begin to rebuild their relationships as brothers, as well as the damaged romantic and professional relationships in their respective lives… all while rediscovering their love of Christmas.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Lucas James Brenner talks himself up in the mirror while shirtless. (Hallmark with a Shirtless hunk?! Okay, get it!) Then his mom calls from downstairs, a funny gag. Lucas works as a firefighter, and his co-workers ridicule him for being in a firefighter calendar.
Cut to another Brenner brother, Taylor, at an office work party. He designs video games. He hates Christmas and marketing graphics. His opinion doesn’t matter because he gets fired from his job. Taylor tries to get his co-works to stage a coup, but they all hate him.
Stephen is a pet therapist. He is the most boring brother. Yawn! Good thing her has cute animals with him. Oh, wait, he has social anxiety!
Iconic actress Margaret Colin plays the boy’s mother. She is interested in her boys lives but doesn’t want to be too pushy. She wants a Christmas like they did when they were little.
While doing a crow pose in some grey sweatpants, Luke hears a baby cooing and finds a baby with a note in the fire hall. The baby was explicitly left for Luke. He brings the baby home, and Mom, Babara, helps take care of the baby. She raised three boys independently and decided that she and the brothers would take care of the baby until Christmas.
Barbara gets a phone call and has to go out to town to help her sister Louise, who fell and needs help recovering.
The boys are left to take care of the baby. Taylor gets the first crack at keeping the baby entertained. He tries to do magic tricks, drum tricks, and video games, but nothing works. Then Taylor spills the baby formula and has to go to the grocery store. On the say, he has to bargain with a kid for a wagon, and then he loses his wallet.
Stephen tries his hand a watching the baby and decides to make cookies for some reason.
Taylor and Stephen give the baby a bath in the sink and argue the whole time. They briefly mention that they don’t know how their mother did it without their father. Then the brothers go out for more shopping.
The baby finally falls asleep while the brothers are trying to assemble the crib. Like comes waltzing in loudly and wakes up the baby. He is horrified at how overwhelmed by the baby.
Luke is way more competent with the baby. He can handle diapers, feeding, and bedtime. The brothers are annoyed but thankful SOMEONE knows what is going on. That is until Luke unknowingly picks up the wrong baby basket.
Stephen works with a client named Susie, and she is very talkative. Which is good because she can fill in when his social anxiety kicks in.
Taylor takes some meetings over beers and is surprised to learn his reputation of not being a team player has followed him around.
Back at home, Stephen realizes that the baby is not the one they have been watching. They return to the mall, where Luke left the baby, and swap it. (I guess I missed it.) Then they take a picture will the mall Santa.
A jerk/hot neighbor, Mark, bullies the brothers because their house decorations are lame. He tells them that the winner of the town decorating contest wins a cruise, and the brothers decide to go for it and win a cruise vacation for their mother, who is sad she is missing Christmas with the boys.
Susie brings over a casserole and stays over to help decorate. So does Taylor’s cool co-worker Viv. Then the brothers do a dance to The Nutcracker Suite.
Luke tells his brothers that he always goes above and beyond for the family. He shouts at Taylor, who shuts down at the confrontation.
The baby gets a rash, and the men freak out. Kimberley Sustad makes a cameo here as the ER doctor and is fun in the role. (She also co-wrote the movie with Paul Campbell, and they did a great job writing a funny and unique Hallmark Movie!)
The brothers talk emotionally about not having a father on the ride back from the hospital. They agree that they still have one another and a great mother. What more do they need!
It is finally time for the Channel 7 News Christmas Spirit of Christmas decorations. Mark shows off his decorations, and he thinks it is pretty awesome. THEN the fire truck shows up at the brother’s house.
The brothers dress up as the three wise men and play for the crowd. The baby is Jesus, naturally. Stephen comes out of his shell and saves the performance. The crowd is still confused, but Barbara saves it with a rendition of “Silent Night” Mark wins the contest anyway.
The baby’s mother finally comes back and calls her baby, Thomas. It is a half-hearted yell, “Thomas. My baby…” The mother explains that she was overwhelmed behind on her bills and needed a few days to figure things out. She remembered Luke from the fire station and knew Thomas would be safe there,
Taylor gets his job back and asks Fiona on a date.
Luke stops by the mother’s house to give her a baby’s first ornament the brother made for Thomas. He tells her that he understands the pressure she feels being a mother and tells her that she is not alone.
One year later, Luke has a party in his newly finished home. Everyone is there, including Matt, and it is a perfect Christmas. Luke has found the family to fill his home.
The brother finishes with the nutcracker dance.
Which I need to learn!
