Synopsis (via BET)
A headstrong music manager (Hilton) in desperate need of a hit song for his last remaining client finds himself falling for a gifted singer-songwriter (David) with abandoned dreams of making it big, as he attempts to secure the rights to a Christmas song she wrote years ago.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Melody plays the piano with her daughter; she could have pursued a career in music but now sings for fun. She runs a BBQ restaurant with her father.
In Nashville, Tennesee, Country music superstar Lyndsey Watt will put on a concert for Christmas. She is managed by Luke Dawson, who spends his time when he is not partying, looking for new Country music talent. The board of the record label fires Luke for underperforming. He loses all his clients.
Luke tries to take Lyndsey with him, but she won’t agree to go. That is until she hears a song called “When Christmas was Young.” a demo that Melody sent to the record label. Lyndsey agrees to leave IF luke gets the song for her Christmas album.
Luke goes to the town and meets Melody at her dad’s BBQ restaurant. At first, Melody is resistant to him, but with some quality time and Christmas magic, Melody agrees to sign with Luke’s new record label.
Amazon’s Alexa ruins everything by playing a radio interview Lindsey takes where she mentions she will be performing the song at her Christmas concert. Melody angrily tells Luke that she shouldn’t have trusted him.
Betrayed and upset, Melody cries to her father, as she has been holding so much back since her mother died. He holds her and tells her never to give up on her dreams. Melody reaches out to Lindsey herself and sells her song. She also makes a deal that Luke manages them both.
At the concert, Luke tries to convince Lindsey to come to his record label even though he didn’t get the song. Lindsey tells him that she has already made a deal with Melody, who appears from backstage with her daughter.
Luke arranges for Melody to sing the song on stage with Lindsay and it goes over well!
Melody and Luke kiss on stage while Lindsey screams “MERRY CHRISTMAS!”
Side Note
The title song was written by Sheryl Crow.
Ther was better production value in this CBS/Paramount+ original.
