With the Holidays approaching, Cecilia (Jackée Harry) discovers that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, so she decides to make a surprise visit to her daughter Alexis (Ciarra Carter) who created and runs “Cyber Santa,” an online gift giving business. Seizing an opportunity to spend Christmas with her daughter and get back into the game, Cecilia becomes an intern at the start-up company and the two learn the importance of family during the most wonderful time of year, while also finding love.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Jackée Harry calls her daughter while working out to discuss spending Christmas together. Alexis is half asleep and annoyed.
Ms. Vivica A. Fox runs a business with a hot co-worker named Dante. I don’t know what he is saying, but he is fine.
Alexis works for a rinky dink app company called Cyber Santa. Seriously, their office is janky as hell. Alexis has a meeting with Dante. She rushes from work, and Dante patiently waits. They talk business, and Alexis is surprised that he ordered Christmas drinks. After they loosen up, Alexis shares about her father passing away and her mother moving to Florida.
Jackée Harry shows up unannounced and moves into her daughter’s home. She claims to be fine, but is clearly missing her daughter. Alexis is annoyed and throws herself into work even more. Her assistant, Sari, suggests getting an intern to help out for free and promises to handle the hiring. Sari hires Jackée Harry to help with the marketing, much to Alexis’ horror.
Jackée Harry makes friends with a supply chain manager named William. He sold the warehouse to Cyber Santa and now works for the company. He asks her to join him for lunch sometime.
Dante shows up at the office and is more impressed than I was. They have spruced up the space with Christmas decorations, and he becomes fascinated by the intern, Jackée Harry. She thinks Dante is cute. (And she is right!)
Gemma definitely doesn’t like Jackée Harry after she makes her look bad in a meeting. Gemma confronts Jackée Harry and tries to put her in a place as an intern, but Jackée Harry isn’t having it.
The app is OK; it is a Christmas decoration hub.
Alexis and Jackée Harry discuss the new men in their lives and bake cookies. Jackée Harry has a pizza date with William, where they don’t actually eat pizza.
The cookies are used to help boost morale at work. Even Gemma changes her tune after a heart-to-heart with Alexis.
CUE A MOTIVATED WORKING MONTAGE (Set to Jackée Harry’s Christmas song.)
Ms. Vivica A Fox is impressed with Cybe Santa’s numbers (The radio ads Jackée Harry suggested boosted sales through the roof.). Still, it is a seasonal business and on shaky ground. Dante fights for Alexis and the company. Ms. Vivica A Fox warns him that he shouldn’t be advising her on feelings.
Dante decides to give the business another look over in person. Jackée Harry warns her daughter to be careful with Dante. Mixing business and pleasure is never a good idea.
The model for print ads gets mono, and Jackée Harry fills in as a last-minute replacement. The photographer is into it! (So is William, who suggested Jackée Harry.)
Dante is back in town and asks Alexis to join him for dinner. Is it for work or a date? Alexis is surprised when Dante flirts with her at dinner, and she tells him a relationship is impractical. She doesn’t want to do long distances, and he offers to move to town. Later, they make out on the couch while Jackée Harry stands over them. (It’s weird!)
Alexis gets an email that further funding has been denied for her company, and she screams at Dante for not telling her. Dante explains that it is not a sustainable business. Alexis tells him to go and never come back.
Jackée Harry tries to lift her daughter’s spirits, but Alexis is a mess. The company and Jackée Harry back their CEO and think they can make the business work.
Dante quits his job and moves to town for Alexis. He assures her he believes in her and wants to help her find funding. Alexis turns down his offer. (Damn, that is cold!) Jackée Harry tells her daughter that she is crazy and sends Alexis to chase after him.
Alexis apologizes, and he tells her that she has been right all along.
At the warehouse, the workers celebrate reaching their goal and working on Christmas. Yay?
Alexis and Dante kiss, wrapping up that storyline, and then it is Jackée Harry’s turn to kiss William and tell him she is staying in town too!
Ms. Vivica A Fox congratulates Dante and Alexis on their success and offers more financing. Merry Christmas!
