Inspired by real stories, Confessions of a Cam Girl follows the eighteen-year-old fashion savant Kristen (Megan Best, Dawn) who is set to become the first in her family to graduate college. Her working-class parents are furious when she reveals a plan to attend fashion school instead of college. Her parents refuse to use her college fund for her farfetched dream. Determined to pay for it herself, Kristen secretly creates an online explicit content page to raise $10,000 for dream program. Confident that she can keep her side hustle under wraps, Kristenās secret unravels and threatens not just her future, but the safety of her family as well.

Kristen is known as “ms.worldwide” to her online followers. She is a cam girl and also just a teen trying to make it through high school!
Three months earlier, Kristen was just a normal teenage girl, but now that she is eighteen, she has a world of opportunities! She can get a tattoo and become a stripper, jokes to her BFF Riley. After high school, Kristen wants to skip college and take a fashion intensive in Paris. (Her parents, specifically her controlling father, Pete, would never go for it.) While getting all this exposition out of the way, Riley and Kristen bump into Owne, Kristen’s school crush.
Kristen makes a presentation to her parents about Paris and Fashion! They are HORRIFIED. Kristen cries and tries to explain her plan, but her parents are not funding it and demand she go to college. (I went to college, and I don’t have a stable job) Kristen takes matters into her own hands and schemes on how to make money as an influencer, like the Kardashians!
Riley and Kristen participate in making content MONTAGE! Yasssss!
Owen takes Kristen out for a coffee date and tells her that he likes swimming and swimming! They have a sweet, awkward first kiss. Then they agree to go hiking for date two!
One of Kristen’s videos blew up on social media, and the comments tell her to make an Xclusive Patron. (AKA Only Fans.) Kristen does some online research and learns she can make 10K in four months by providing her followers the “Boyfriend experience.” Another girl at school, Darcy, tells Kristen that it is a good idea, and then ms.worldwide is created! (Riley even takes sexy photos, but tasteful, you know?!)
The hike with Owen is sweet and a total contrast to the sexy persona Kristen is portraying online. They are goofy and even have a picnic! Owen opens up about his father’s poor health/his last girlfriend, who cheated on him, and Kris shares her plans for Paris. The romance is interrupted by a request for a $ 100-foot photo from the XP app.
Frank35 pays Kristen $200 bucks FOR THIS PHOTO?!?!?! Kristen assures Riley that she knows what she is doing and must show more skin.
The requests start taking over Kristen’s attention and become more explicit in their requests. Frank35 offers $500 for a topless picture, pushing her boundaries. This money would get Kristen close to her goal for Paris. She decides to send him the pic. Frank then starts sending Kristen gift cards to buy more fetish clothing to wear for him instead of paying her per photo.Ā
Word gets out about it because Kristen tells Darcy about her XP account. Riley starts to feel like her BFF is becoming too obsessed with the app and acting “whorey” online. Kristen goes live for hundreds of followers sexily drinks water, and holds a teddy bear. Frank35 defends Kristen in the chat and sends her money. .
Darcy throws a party and invites only her closest friends. Kristen, Riley, Owen, and his friend Brandon. The topic of XP comes up, and Owen isn’t into the app because he feels it is exploitative. The girls say it is female empowerment and harmless without disclosing Kris has an XP account. Kris puts on her sexy persona, and Owen isn’t into it. He worries she has too much to drink and can’t consent to what she is doing because her judgment is impaired. Owen explains that he wants their first time to mean something special. Kris feels rejected and leans on Frank35 for emotional support. Then she chugs a bottle of vodka and misses her kid sister’s soccer game.
Kristen feels trapped and alone. Her family is mad at her, and Owen ignores her texts. She agrees to meet with Frank35 in person for $6000. Riley warns that Kristen’s life is starting to look like a Dateline episode.Ā
Frank35 meets Kris in the park and brings her flowers. He asks her to call him “Daddy” and breathes heavily. He is very touchy feel and demanding of her. Kristen runs away after Brandon sees her in the park with the strange man. Frank35 bullies Kristen online, but she blocks him.
Owen confronts Kris about what Brandon saw and tells her not to lie to him. She decides to come clean about her being on Xclusive Patrons, and Owen doesn’t take it well. Kris still has the support of Riley and her little sister JJ, who help her through the rough time.
Kristen goes on a college tour in Ohio and is shocked that one of the college guys recognizes her from her XP account. She didn’t realize how wide-reaching her account was. Her mother thinks something is up and takes away her phone privileges. (She almost discovers Kristen’s XP account, but Kris deletes it from her laptop first.enables face recognician.
Kris makes her goal, but her account has gone totally viral. Everyone in school knows about msworldwide. Kristen is horrified and humiliated. The school gets involved and contacts her parents.
Frank35 isn’t done with her yet and leaves stalker photos with threatening messages on her doorstep. She realizes that she has to come clean, and her mother freaks out on her daughter; things get worse when Dad comes home.
The school tells Kristen that she will be disciplined from the school board since she filmed some of her videos on school property. Kristen and her parents try to get a restraining order from Frank35, and she goes to therapy twice a week.
The police, unfortunately, tell Kristen and her parents that Frank35 created an account using a fake name and the website will not release his personal information. Kristen’s parents ask the police to protect their daughter, but there is nothing they can do.
Kristen tries to apologize to Owen, but he isn’t ready to forgive her. She also deletes all her social media accounts and always carries pepper spray with her.Ā
She is going to need it because her little sister is almost kidnapped by a sub-soccer coach. Warren is FRANK35!!! Kris defends her sister and the police arrest her stalker. (Good riddance!)
Kris is allowed to stay in school, but isn’t afforded the traditional rituals like Prom and all of that. She instead applies for a personal shopper position in the city at a store called Mason Blanc. It isn’t Paris, but it will do for now! The end!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
I’ve been waiting for the OF storyline to make its way to Lifetime. This movie did a great job of showing how young girls can be exploited on the app.Ā
Matthew Kevin Anderson is one of my favoriteāunderutilized Lifetime actors.
