Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Monica is encouraged by her friend to start a crowdsource fund to pay for the hospital bills, after her daughter, Shannon, is injured in an accident. But as a seemingly attractive and generous man, Noah, donates more and more money, she begins to question his motives. Starring Nicole Weber, James Hyde, Francesca Barker McCormick, Clark Moore, and Lexi Minetree (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts.

The movie starts at a seedy motel where a hooded figure is chasing a blonde. She frantically calls 911 as the figure bangs on the door.

Cut to Monica, a Sunshine Corporation executive, who has raised over a million dollars for a charity for rare diseases. Even though she is crushing it at work, Monica is denied a raise because it’s a non-profit company. Monica vents to a co-worker named Rebecca, who can open a jam jar with a spoon tap!

Monica is recently divorced and lonely; she sends her daughter, Shannon, to spend the weekend with her stepdad, Brian. He gives the daughter a laptop, and Monica is pissed—Monica windes down with her new friend Rebecca and lots of wine. Rebecca tells Monica to go online and finds her a match—a cute detective.

Shannon injures herself while playing basketball with Brian and ends up in the emergency room. Brian takes Shannon to the ER and tells Monica that he forgot to put Shannon on his insurance. With no way to pay the exorbitant hospital bill, Shannon lists on a “Find the Funds,” not expecting much. Only a man named Noah Ellings donates $25,000 or the entire bill.

Noah is a hot billionaire, and Monica decides to set up a meeting with Noah (and Brian) to say thank you. Brian is suspicious and thinks the money doesn’t come with strings attached. Noah confirms that he did it out of the goodness of his heart. Then Noah immediately asks if Monica would be willing to volunteer time at his non-profit.

On the other hand, Brian gets a bad vibe from Noah and snoops around the house. He researches Noah online when Noah knocks on his door and confronts Brian. It’s a tense interaction but ultimately results in nothing other than intimidation. (Oh, except for the drugs Noah slips in Brian’s tea cup.) Brian notices powder on the cup and calls 911, but he still dies. POOR BRIAN!

Jack, the detective match, breaks the news to Monica about her ex-husband’s OD and questions her before they are interrupted by Noah. Noah asks Monica to go to a soup kitchen with him, and she feels giving back might make her feel better.

The owner, Susan, is surprised to see Noah at the soup kitchen. He laughs it off but clearly doesn’t often visit because he gets into an argument with a homeless man who is deaf for not saying “Thank you.” Later, Susan tells Monica they asked Noah to step down due to his temper.

More medical issues arise, and Noah also offered to pay for this surgery. (But, like, why didn’t Monica put her daughter on her insurance?) Noah asks Monica out, and she tries to set a boundary, but he doesn’t have it. They go to dinner, and Noah insists on paying, so Monica just orders soup and tells him she is uncomfortable with the money he has been spending on him and doesn’t want to give him the wrong idea. Noah freaks out on Monica and tells her that she is ungrateful.

The following day, he donates 10,000 as an apology for his behavior. Monica is disturbed to learn Noah has a history of donating to beautiful women with medical issues. Noah then visits Monica’s work and offers to fun the project she is working on and on Rebecca’s too. The not-for-profit has no problem taking Noah’s money. Rebecca, who starts dating him immediately, doesn’t either, even after Monica warns her that he is dangerous.

Monica asks Jack, the detective, to look up a woman who was a victim of Noah’s. Her name is Charlotte Ross, and she is the woman from the motel.

Charlotte gives the backstory on Noah. His mother died of cancer, and he has been trying to help other women since he couldn’t help his mother. Charlotte isn’t interested in assisting Monica in taking him down. (She later agrees to help.)

Monica goes it alone and breaks into Noah’s home. He calls the police after his security cameras alert him. Monica is caught and tries to explain things to her detective, maybe her boyfriend. He tells her that Sue was murdered (off camera! Rude!) and Noah is a possible suspect. Jack takes paint from Noah’s car and matches it to the evidence from Sue’s fatal accident.

Monica and Charlotte decide to work together to con Noah. They pretend to be into him and are grateful for all he has given them. Little do they know that Noah is onto them because he is tracking their phone and knows they are together. Charlotte ends up trapped in Noah’s house, and Monica rushes to save her new friend.

Noah ties them up and holds them at gunpoint. He tells them they are selfish women who “take, take, take!” Noah says he is a man, a provider. They try to reason with him, but someone is at the door.

REBECCA! She is upset because Noah hasn’t returned her calls and is annoyed. Rebecca hears their muffled screams and tries to run away, but Noah grabs her.

Monica, Rebecca, and Charlotte overpower Noah and tie him up. He laughs and tells them he can buy his way out of anything. Anything that is, except for a murder charge for killing Sue.

As he is arrested, Noah looks back before getting into the car… and is still hot. Damn. I have learned nothing. Money and looks matter most!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

They did Sue dirty in this one!

I liked the ladies coming together in the end, but damn it, if we didn’t get a shot of James Hyde looking nonplused about being arrested.

The script here felt convoluted. The medical bills for the daughter, the stepdad, the not-for-profits, the co-worker with the jelly? I’m like, was all of this needed?

  1. The writers of basically ALL LMN movies are insulting our intelligence. Between the moronic characters who do such dumb things that they’re literally not believable. And the idiotic scripts. The characters do and say the most ridiculous things, the plots a stupid etc. It stresses me out. I try to watch the movies and think of them as comedies but they’re not even comedies. They’re a total waste of time. And brain cells.
