Synopsis (via Lifetime)

For over 20 years, Violet has carried an obsessive torch of love for Garrett, the handsome boy she once dated in high school. Now 40, Violet moves in next door to Garrett, determined to destroy his marriage and take her “rightful” place as his wife. Starring Alissa Filoramo, Matthew Pohlkamp, and Aryè Campos, and Taylor Castro (2024)

Recap/Wine Thoughts.

A woman in a red dress named Violet rummages through an old box of photos. She coos over an ex-boyfriend named Garrett. Her husband comes down excited to celebrate their fifteenth wedding anniversary and is disappointed to find her living in the past. When he tries to take the photo from her hands, she FREAKS OUT! Violet punches him in the face, and they struggle over the photo till it rips. Violet gets so angry she strangles him with his own tie while screaming, “I HATE YOU!” (Then we get the title card, and we know this movie will be unhinged.)

This teen is goofy looking for all the obession!

Cut to aspiring fashion designer/teen Alyson; she gets into her dream college and rushes to tell her parents, Daisy and GARRETT! (He is all grown up and hot.) The man runs in slow motion to cry out loud. Violet enjoys the view, too, as she pulls into the house next door. Violet is their new neighbor.

Daisy is possessive of her husband from the get-go because she also went to their high school and remembers that Garrett used to date their new neighbor, even if it was only for two weeks. Her first question? Is Violet married? (Violet admits to being recently separated but dating someone named Paulo.) Daisy invites Violet over for dinner and slyly drops that she and Garrett have been married for “18 years and counting.” That sets Violet off.

The sweat here was so aggressive!

Violet goes home, tears open a pillow, sending feathers everywhere, prints out a photo she just took of the three of them, cuts Daisy out of the photo, and adds it to her serial killer vision board. All while seething, “18 years and counting!!!!” Oh, wait, we can forget the part when she kisses the pictures. (It is so great! Very camp. Very fun.)

The fashion in this movie was wild!

At the dinner, Violet comes over with her tatas out and an apple pie. She takes a special interest in Allison’s fashion aspirations and commissions her to design a dress.

Garett and Daisy have a sexy time, and it is intercut with Violet making a poison pie for Daisy’s boss. The following day, Violet goes all peeping tom on her neighbor while straight-up masturbating. (I get it Matthew Pohlkamp is a hunk, and this movie really goes hard on his shirtless shots. My guy’s been putting in time at the gym!)

He works out!

Daisy works in a home office, and Violet is impressed with the setup. (Especially a file labeled “PASSWORDS.”) Violet snaps a quick pic of its contents. The ladies bond over high school memories. Daisy asks why Garett broke up with Violet. (Violet has a fantasy of strangeling Daisy.) Violet puts more poison in the pie, and Daisy helps put a bow on it while boxing it up for her boss.

Suddenly, we are in a spooky warehouse shead thing. She hires a construction hunk/ex-convict named Oliver. He will run a financial con on the family because they are hard up for cash and need to find a way to pay for their daughter to go to fashion school in Paris. Daisy falls for it.

Claudia, Daisy’s boss, is so thankful for the pie and insists on eating it right away at a coffee shop. After a few bites, Claudia vomits all over the place, and Daisy rushes Claudia to the ER. When Daisy confronts Violet about the pie, Violet explains that Claudia must be allergic to an ingredient. NBD! (Daisy gets fired for trying to kill the boss, haha!)

Garett and Violet FINALLY get some screen time together when they bump into one another at a cafe. (A meet cute?) He apologizes for breaking up with her in high school after promising to take her to the prom. (WOW! Unforgivable. I’m on Violet’s side now.)

Daisy meets with Oliver again and almost signs the papers, but Garett catches them and shuts it down. Daisy accuses him of not caring about their daughter’s future. Violet tells Oliver that he failed, and she tries to write him off, but he extorts her for more money, or he will tell the family what she is up to.

It is the night of the fashion show, and Violet gives Allison a makeover. Daisy disapproves. So Violet breaks into Daisy’s bank account and transfers Allison’s college fund to the fake investor account.

Daisy’s car breaks down on the way to the fashion show. She misses the whole thing, and Violet is happy to fill in. Then, a text notification about the transfer creates a big rift in the marriage. Daisy is so mad she vows to kill “Russ,” AKA Oliver, for stealing their life savings.

Violet comes over the next day with coffee to apologize for the unauthorized makeover and for going overboard supporting Alison. The coffee she gives Daisy has a sedative, and it knocks Daisy out.

While Daisy is passed out, Violet lures Oliver into her house and kills him with a kitchen knife. She frames Daisy for the murder. Allison finds her mother and the dead body.

The police arrive and arrest Daisy, and Violet is quick to fill in as Allison’s caretaker. Daisy maintains her innocence in prison, and the evidence is stacked against her.

Love the daughter saving her mother!

Allison starts asking around and looking things up online. She notices that one of the models from Fashion Week is a gay model named Philip, the guy Violet was passing off as her boyfriend. Allison is convinced that Violet is behind everything. She asks her father to help her find Violet’s ex-husband. When he doesn’t come through, Allison sneaks into Violet’s house and finds the ex-husband’s information.

THE EX-HUSBAND IS ALIVE and wearing transition glasses. He doesn’t want to get involved and slams the door in Allison’s face. Allison grabs a rock and threatens to break every window unless he talks to her. He tells her about Violet’s obsessions with Garett.

I don’t make fun of people in glasses unless they are transitions.

Left alone with Garett, Violet seduces her obsession. He tries to tell her he is still in love with Daisy, but she isn’t taking no for an answer. Allison calls her father as Daisy strips off her clothes, and she tells him that Violet framed Daisy for murder.

Garett confronts Violet and tells her to get dressed and get OUT! The rejection sends flashes of memories through Violet’s mind, and she grabs a crystal tower and beats him with it.

Allison comes home and finds her father on the floor. While she tries to resuscitate her father, Violet grabs a knife and chases the teen around the house. They enter the front yard, and Allison wacks Violet with a hammer and calls 911.

Violet overpowers Allison and almost stabs her to death, but Garett throws her off of his daughter. As he holds her in his arms, Violet coos, “Kiss me.” before Allison wacks her in the face with a shovel again.

Find me another actress who looks so good getting hit in the face with a shovel! GEORGOUS!

Daisy gets out of prison, and Allison gets a full ass scholarship after she writes the story of what happened in her application letter.

Violet sits in prison and is still obsessed with Garett…. FOREVER! The end!

A classic Lifetime ending

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

Can we talk about Violet’s questionable fashion choices?

I’ve seen this movie under another title. Am I losing my mind?!?! Have I seen too many Lifetime movies, and my brain is broken?
