Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Following an attempted assault that caused her father’s death, college track star Elysium’s Aunt Kendra moves into the family house. Kendra tries to convince Elysium to see a therapist but fails, not realizing Elysium has turned her attention to her married neighbor, Rio. Fixated on Rio, Elysium inserts herself into his life by babysitting his son and working for free at the gym Rio owns with his wife, Tori. After a drunken night, Elysium seduces Rio, but he immediately regrets his decision and tells Elysium that can never happen again. Elysium refuses to acknowledge Rio’s feelings and begins making herself visible at Rio’s every turn–from spending more time at the gym, to dating Rio’s best friend. But when none of her attempts to get Rio’s attention work, Elysium becomes increasingly dangerous. Can Rio stop Elysium’s obsession before it turns deadly? Stars Sofia Bryant, Curtis Hamilton, and Naomi Walley (2023).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie starts with a young, fit co-ed and her gay BFF. ( Which I love.) Elysium runs home and is attacked on her doorstep. Her father intervenes and is shot on the spot and killed.

Six months later, Elysium lives with her Auntie Kendra, and they notice a new couple moving in next door. Tori moves in with her husband, Rio, and stepson. Jake, Rio’s brother, helps and thinks Tori is good for his brother, who went through a rough breakup with his ex-wife.

She’s just looking for a father figure, they say!

Elysium brings over a football that comes into her yard and has EXTREME SEXUAL VIBES WITH RIO FROM THE GET-GO! They brush their hands while picking up a water bottle, and it is almost pornographic.

Well, don’t worry if that scene wasn’t hot enough for you because Rio showers outdoors, and we get a lot of happy trail shots. The gay BFF Chris confirms that he is gay and that Rio is a DILF! Elysium and Chris peek over the fence and enjoy the view.

We love gratuitous male shower scenes! Why is there a shower outside? Is this a beach house? Whocare!

Next, there is a sexy water fountain moment when Rio visits Elysium at school, and I feel uncomfortable. Then she is a babysitter to his son, and the son shows Elysium the gun in the house, and I am REALLY uncomfortable.

Tori leaves town for work, leaving Elysium and Rio unsupervised. Elysium thinks she is being followed on a jog and rushes to Rio, who comforts her and crosses a line. (Like he has sex with an underage girl, and he is married line!) The next morning. Rio tells Elysium that they shouldn’t have hooked up and it will never happen again. Elysium tells him it is a two-way street and is upset that he wants to act like nothing happened. (Elysium does the opposite and dangles her discretions in Rio’s face.)

This is when I realized the movie was taking a Fatal Attraction turn, and I was not here for it.

Elysium starts working at Tori and Rio’s gym and follows him around. After seeing him talking to another woman, she destroys his car in broad daylight. Rio talks to Auntie Kendra, and she shuts him down by telling him they should talk about it with his wife around. Rio drops it.

Rio vents to his brother, and they are both shirtless and hot, so I missed whatever that scene was about.

These men were hot.

Auntie Kendra tells Elysium that messing with people’s marriages is messy and suggests that Elysium talk to a therapist because she is clearly not over her father’s abrupt murder.

Tori unknowingly sets Elysium and Jake up on a date, increasing the tension. Rio tries to warn his brother about Elysium, but Jake is no match for Elysium’s seduction. As they are making out, Elysium calls Jake “Rio.” Jake kicks her out of his house once he realizes she is “the girl!”

Gunner, the kid, goes missing in a melodramatic turn of events. He ends up just being with Elysium at a beach outing Rio requested. Elysium says that Rio asked her to take Gunner out. To retaliate, Rio gets Elysium kicked off the track team. So she tells Rio that she is pregnant. PREGNANT!!!

More shirtless men!!!

Hot

There is a booby trap in the head with a shovel and a flower pot. Jake is the victim, and I’m not sure what went down, and neither are the characters in the movie because they swiftly move on. Tori is more concerned with the panties she finds on the couch than his (maybe) dead brother-in-law. They break up, and Tori tells him she deserves better, and she does!

She deserves all the wine!

CPS shows up and finds the gun in the house; Rio is charged with child neglect. (Yes, he should be for keeping an unlocked gun in the home.) Angry and vengeful, Rio holds Elysium at gunpoint and screams at her for ruining his life. Tori tries to de-escalate but ends up getting hit by a car (Driven by Auntie Kendra?!?!) and killed.

Jail? For what?

Rio ends up in prison? Elysium is back in school and still dealing with her daddy issues.

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

The Tubi Logo is all over this thing!

WHO were we supposed to be rooting for in this movie? WHO?

The blanked-out cuss words were so distracting! Just say the words or cut them out.

Oh man, I hated this movie making Elysium the obsessed teenager Lolita thing. o, no, no! aybe she was in college, but it is still creepy.
