Synopsis (via Hallmark)
Kate North (Sustad) finds herself reluctantly taking over her father’s once acclaimed and now struggling Santa School. In the weeks leading up to Christmas and the school’s next session, Kate and her new co-worker Dan (Ayres) discover who they believe to be the real Santa Claus, lost and without his memories after his sled steered off course and crashed near the school. They decide to help him remember who he is by inviting him to participate in the intense Santa training program. There’s a lot at stake this year with Kate’s school needs to best the rival St. Nicholas School or be forced to close their doors, and Nick (Santa Claus) needs to remember who he is, or the fate of Christmas might be at stake.

Recap/Wine Thoughts
Kate begrudgingly works at her family business. A Christmas 24-hour, 360 days a week getaway called North Star. They train Mall Santa’s nationwide. The business manager quits, and Kate fills in temporarily; she turns 12 years old. Her dad is selling his house and retiring to Florida. Kate is left to run the business she never wanted in the first place. Her sister Bailey helps Kate.
The former business manager and a top teacher named Dan started a rival business, Santa School. They dominate the market and always win the Christmas Cup. Dan is the best Santa trainer in town. Dan goes right to Kate, who isn’t a fan. (They went on a date years ago.) Dan goes for the hard sell. Kate agrees because she has hit rock bottom, and it can’t get any worse!
Dan and Kate carpool to work for their first day. They bicker over drinking out of a coffee mug in the car. Dan promises not to spill his hot chocolate and blasts Christmas music on the radio. They suddenly stop when a Santa crosses the middle of the road. He has no idea what his name is or what he is doing. Kate and Dan see his sleigh fly away. They realize he is the actual Santa. He has a concussion and memory loss. They bring him to Santa School for safekeeping.
Other students arrive on campus for classes. There is a dork researcher named Timothy. Patrick is Old Santa. Lazy Santa is Issac. There is a ventriloquist Santa named Bruce, and a Lesbian Santa named Megan! They all suit up and, of course, start with an obstacle course. (Lesbian Santa wins!)
Next, they do “Ho Ho Ho” practice, and we get a montage of everyone getting it wrong. This Santa Class is the worst that Kate and Dan have ever seen. They have the REAL Santa, but he still has no memory and just seems confused by the whole thing. Nick starts to have visions of Sugarplums in his head. (Well, it is actually other people’s Christmas memories when he touches them.)
The Santas next face kids at the mall who are not up for the task. The kids are unruly and almost riot when they find out Santa’s empty toy bag. Nick is the actual Santa. He comes through and is great with kids. He uses his special powers to give them their Christmas wishes.
Blaise tells Kate she doesn’t have what it takes to win the Christmas Cup. He has the picture-perfect Santa. Kate realizes that her unique Santas are actually an asset. She gives a rousing monologue to rouse her crew for the competition.
Getting ready for the big event montage! There is a gift exchange. Kate gives Dan a nice gift. It says he is the world’s best Santa trainer. He asks her out on another date, and she agrees! They crash a Christmas party and have fun evading security. They eventually get kicked out but have a better understanding of one another. They also make out mid-movie, so what’s up with that!
Santa still hasn’t regained his memory, and word gets out to the other Santas that he is the REAL Santa. Bailey tells her sister she isn’t the magic one; Nick is. This gives Kate an idea, and she shows Santa his magic bag to help him remember who he really is. He gets a reindeer whistle and calls for his sleigh back.
The Christmas cup is basically a beauty contest for Santa. They all compete. Nick remembers who he really is when Mrs. Clause shows up and gives him back his memory. He runs the obstacle course and wins the whole thing. He gives Kate a trip to Paris before he goes and tells Kate to “believe.”
Kate decides to keep running the school with Dan, and they make out. Santa sends a package and tells Kate he will be back to help next year!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
Hallmark doesn’t really go full Santa; this was an interesting take. Not sure if I’m a fan.
