Synopsis (via Hallmark)

Mia (Lowndes), a meticulous webpage editor for the Seattle Tourism Board, finds herself unexpectedly navigating the holidays alone. As the only one working, she’s drawn into an unusual encounter when she encounters a stray dog. Unsure how to handle the situation, she crosses paths with Max (Winner of Finding Mr. Christmas), a dog shelter owner. Mia agrees to let Max’s ailing dog find solace with her newfound companion, in exchange for Max showing her the hidden gems of Seattle. Through their journey together, they both step out of their comfort zones, discovering new perspectives and forming a meaningful connection.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Jessica Lowndes is a mess! She eats potato chips in bed, has run out of toothpaste, and wears dirty clothes to work. Even though she is supposed to be a mess, she looks flawless. (but evil!) Her co-worker tells her to stop wallowing and enjoy the holiday season. Jessica Lowndes doesn’t take that advice and cancels her trip to see her family for Christmas.

On her way home in the rain, Jessica Lowndes helps a dog stuck in a fence. He follows her home, and she takes him in and feeds the dog ramen. She is not a pet owner and has no idea what she is doing. Jessica Lowndes drops off the dog at an animal shelter, and the Hallmark Hunk is there. (Ezra Moreland, the reality show winner, to find the next Hallmark Hunk.) HE IS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jessica Lowndes and Hallmark’s dogs fall in love and need more time together. The dogs get more screen time than the actors, including a full meet cute and plenty of reaction shots.

There is a hiking scene that piqued my interest because the Hallmark Hunk was sweating gray sweatpants and flopping around. Other than that, his dead-behind-the-eyes performance left much to be desired.

They talk to a young Guy Fierri-looking guy.

The dog and people get caught in the rain. The Hallmark hunk takes off his shirt, and that is all that matters. They almost kiss but are interrupted by someone at the door. It’s Jessica Lowndes’ parents!! They are surprised to see she has a gentleman caller over. They are also startled by the dogs in the house! They are worried about their daughter because she used to be a doctor but quit after losing a patient. They want her to be a doctor again and take over the practice.

An ex-girlfriend shows up and cramps Jessica Lowndes, and Hallmark hunks vibes. Then he blows Jessica Lowndes off at a Santa run. They have a fight, and Hallmark Hunk is way better at playing a jerk than any other emotion or line reading.

The dog rescue that Hallmark Hunk owns with his sister is in danger of closing, and they suddenly need to raise funds. Instead of having Hallmark Hunk become a stripper or trading a Christmas stocking for a house, the land on the more traditional solution is to throw a Christma Fundraiser.

Planning and decorating montage. (Jonathan Bennett shows up for a cameo and drops the title of the Hallmark Reality show “Finding Mr. Christmas.”

Jessica Lowndes makes an impassioned speech to raise more money, but they still come up short. Her parents cover the difference, so that must be nice.

The movie relentlessly keeps going, Jessica Lowndes decides to be a vet. Making her parents happy and staying with the Hallmark Hunk and the dogs, you can’t forget about the dogs!!!!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

Word on the street is Jessica Lowndes is dating lead Hallmark Hunk, Ezra Moreland. (Who won the role in a Hallmark reality show.) Could her love affair have influenced the outcome of the show? After seeing this performance, I’m surprised Hallmark couldn’t find anyone better.

  1. Talk about skeevy, jerkish and snobby boss. I think she had weird vibes about him from the get-go but was pushing it down due to needing money. But once that creep touched her face, she should’ve quit. Money is never ever worth that. This is giving me “in the news recently” vibes. Ladies the sooner to report things, the better. I had no idea; this movie was going to go the kidnapped route. Wasn’t expecting that. I like how they set it up though, albeit briefly. Who out of the 3 guys took her. And I knew She was in on it, no way he could do it alone. Especially since she saw the pattern of the boss with the new girls and since Kate told her way too much about her having no family. Unfortunately, she was a good target. Why do Lifetime criminals always get away with doing their dirty work in broad daylight. Does Lifetime not have the budget to film those things at night? Will always support a heroine that is self-sufficient and never gives up trying to escape and defend herself. Aww… knew Matt had to go to make room for the detective later
