Synopsis (via Hallmark)
While planning an annual Christmas party, Peyton is forced together with Ben to care for a friend’s daughter. While finding their Christmas spirit, will there be some romance along the way?
Thoughts
Peyton works at her family’s inn and wants to get into event planning. Ben Taylor is back in town, and Peyton doesn’t care. She might have had a crush on him and told him about it. He didn’t reciprocate her feelings, and Peyton is not upset about it!!!
Ben is on his way on vacation to Honduras. Peyton is on her way to the party supply store. They both get distracted by a reindeer in the snow and crash their cars. No one is hurt, but Ben’s car won’t start, so Peyton offers to give him a ride. At the hospital, Ben’s brother Ford tears his ACL and asks Ben to help watch his daughter while he gets surgery. Peyton gives them a ride home but gets roped into spending more time with them. Ben practically begs her to help take care of his niece.
Since these are wealthy white people, they take Lily to see her horse. Peyton and Ben work out an agreement for taking care of the child while ensuring she has a beautiful Christmas. Ben will do the cooking and cleaning; Peyton will handle the “Ho ho ho.” They decorate the house and trim the tree. After the decorating is done, they dance, and Peyton and Ben try not to acknowledge the chemistry between them. Nothing is a mood killer than talking about work, so Peyton tells Ben about the event she is working. The event will be featured in the paper, and she doesn’t even have a theme. Ben tells her to have fun with it and see what happens.
After spending more time together, Ben opens up about his vacation in Honduras. It isn’t exactly a vacation; it is a three-year Doctors Without Borders-type thing. Peyton says she doesn’t need a boyfriend and is happy to have him as a friend. She falls in love with a pecan pie named Steve instead. Seriously though, she needs to focus on planning the party.
Ben, Peyton, and Lily deliver cookies. Next, we have an event decorating montage.
Ben and “Lily” buy Peyton a dress for the big event, and she is touched. The moment doesn’t last long because Ford is out of surgery and on his way home. Ben and Peyton spend one more night together and drink wine. They promise to keep in touch.
It is the night of the party. Everyone is there, including Ford, in candy cane crutches. Ben and Peyton dance, and he asks her to come with him to Honduras. She asks him to stay in town with her because she has just found her passion for events.
On his way to the airport, Ben sees the same reindeer from the beginning of the movie. It is a sign. He has his father turn the car around and go find Peyton. On the doorsteps of the inn, Ben tells Peyton about the reindeer and his desire to start a family. He is going to stay in town and tells her he loves her. They kiss. The end!
