Recap/Wine Thoughts
A 1950’s looking blonde woman runs through a winery and is eventually hit by a car.
Flash to the present day, Jessica and her friend Maddie enjoy a wine tasting, but the wine is “mediocre.” The friend’s trash talk the wine, and the owner Simon overhears the conversation and invites Jessica out on a date to show her the “good wine.” That “wine” must have been amazing because they are married within six months.
Simon’s father dies on the wedding day, and he heads home with Jessica to settle the family affairs. Simon has been estranged from his family for years and keeps deep family secrets hidden by a beautiful estate and lots of money.
Their welcome is less than warm. Simons mother and sister both seem to resent them coming at all. Jessica is taken to her room by the house manager, Miss Watkins, and sees an old photo of Simon with his ex-wife. Miss Watkins quickly snatches the photo up and asks Jessica not to mention it again.
Simon talks about the trouble with the family estate and the money, but he is shirtless and hairy-chested, so I missed a good amount of what he said.
Jessica is taken around town by the family driver, Francis. Since before Simon was even born, he has been working for the family and is very protective of the Prescot family estate and reputation. Apparently, Francis has also been sleeping with Mrs. Prescot.
A detective tries to warn Jessica about Simon and his family in town, but Francis escorts the new wife away quickly. The Detective calls out to ask Simon about what happened to Daphne. Simon tells Jessica that she just vanished, and he blames his family for scaring her off. Jessica asks him for no more surprises, and he apologizes and professes his love.
At a family dinner, Jessica assures them that she is not after the money. That is good because most of the money and estate will go to Simon’s heir… when he has one. This arrangement was set up by Simon’s ex-wife Daphne and probably had a lot to do with her disappearance/murder.
Maddie comes to visit and tries to help Jessica feel more normal. That doesn’t last long because they see a rotting body in a lake. The Detective arrives and questions Jessica about the body she found.
The bad things keep happening; Jessica wants to destress with a bath, but “slips” (maybe) and is knocked unconscious. Madison becomes concerned and bangs on the door. Simon busts it down and tries to resuscitate his wife. Jessica survives and is convinced someone is trying to kill her.
Madison and Simon start spending time together, and Jessica thinks her BFF is stealing her husband. She accuses them of betraying her at the surprise party they planned for Jessica. Madison angrily pours herself a glass of wine and is killed with poison. The wine was meant for Jessica.
Simon’s mother tries to pay Jessica to leave, but she refuses to abandon her husband. Jessica searches the estate for the old photo of Daphnie and sees a specific wine, Barrell. Inside the barrel she finds the ex-wife’s wedding ring.
Jessica tries to leave the estate but is chased by Simon (who wears a very well-fitting shirt) through the wood. The Detective comes out of nowhere and tackles Simon. She arrests him and sends Jessica back to the house??? She doesn’t make it far before she is held at knifepoint by the housekeeper Miss Watkins. Miss Watkins plans on killing Jessica as revenge for Simon killing her daughter, Daphne.
Simon is released on bail and stops Miss Watkins from executing her plan. Well, not exactly. Evelyn, Simon’s sister, killed Daphne and runs over Miss Watkins with her car. (Someone should take away Evelyn’s driver’s license.)
The police show up and arrest Evelyn and her husband Terry for the murders and cover-up. The Detective apologizes for arresting Simon, and hey, at least she can admit she was wrong!
Flash to Jessica who is now welcomed into the family and also pregnant with Simon’s baby. Jessica’s dad randomly shows up! The end!
Side Note
Minority Report: Jessica, Maddie, Miss Watkins, Detective, Cop, Jessica’s dad
I wasn’t really sure when this movie was taking place. The aesthetic was very 1940’s/50’s
The music was distractingly loud for most of the movie.

The background Music was extremely loud and overpowered the Actors most of the time. Especially at the first family dinner
I went back over the skeleton popping up. Detective said no clothes were found, but.. you can see a shoulder with a blue top on.
