Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Kristin feels like she’s going nowhere in life and knows she’d be happier if she could just find a way to stand up for herself and go after her dreams. She hires Ashley, a life coach who promises to help Kristin reach her full potential by eliminating toxic people from her life. A shocking discovery reveals that Ashley isn’t who she says she is and when her unconventional methods start wreaking havoc, Kristin realizes the only toxic person she needs out of her life is Ashley. Danielle Baez, Alissa Filoramo star. (2022)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Ashley Thomas is a life coach that takes her job very seriously. She can’t have any failures in her program and talks to a dead body sharing how disappointed she is in her client. Then Ashley stages an apparent suicide.

Cut to Kristin, who is looked over at her PR office job and underappreciated. She is also going through a divorce. Her sister, Sara, recommends a Life Coach she heard about named… Ashley Thomas. Kristin is hesitant, but she decides to do it after lunch AND dinner consisting of wine! Kristin does some online research and listens to testimonials, and signs up.

Ashley Thomas wastes no time and meets with Kristin the following day, wearing a hot pink blazer and signature pink leather gloves. Ashley assesses Kristin’s life and promises to reinvent her. Kristin signs a contract, and they begin.

On her way out, Ashley Tomas goes through Kristin’s trash, literally. She judges her food choices and wine consumption.

Under Ashley’s guidance, Kristin quits her job, creates a vision board, stops eating junk, floss, and upgrades her wardrobe. (Fun director choice here to speed all this along in a montage.)

In an interview at a new PR firm, Kristin tries to win them over with her confidence but is rejected. Ashley Thomas follows up and breaks into the office. She finds a picture of the boss’s wife and their fancy dinner reservations there. Ashley gets the boss drunk and seduces him into getting a hotel room.

She gets the boss to strip down in the hotel room and ties the man to the bed. Then she takes pictures of him and her together. Ashley threatens to tell his wife unless he hires Kristin Adams. (You know, Ashley is a good friend to go through all this to get Kristen a job.)

Kristin celebrates getting the job with her sister with a night out at da club and tequila shots. Ashley joins them and gives Kristin some new lipstick to wear; she also beats up a lowlife (with a man-bun) who hits on Kristin. Sara isn’t a fan of Ashley’s judgment. The two women do not hit it off.

Kristin starts her new job; she meets a handsome co-worker named Kevin. They enjoy coffee together and start dating. With things going so well, Kristin worries that Ashley did something to get her the job. Ashley admits that she did; they started a vision board!

Sara and Kristin go to dinner together. Sara scoffs when Kristin doesn’t order wine and says that Ashley has changed her. Kristen gets defensive and tells her sister that she wants to take a break. (Ashley watches everything from her car, she is delighted.)

Upset and confused, Sara goes home and searches Ashley Thomas online. She learns that Ashley was disbarred and charged with malpractice. Then she breaks into Ashley’s apartment while she is away. Sara finds a lockbox full of fake IDs and her sister’s mug. She also finds a posion and a room full of cardboard cut-outs of Ashley. The REAL Ashley catches Sara in her apartment and strangles her to death.

Unaware of her sister’s death, Kristin goes on a job with Ashley in matching tracksuits. Then she makes a big pitch at work and is up against her old firm.

When Kristin tells Ashley that she is dating Kevin, Ashley loses it. Kristen doesn’t care and sleeps with Kevin anyway, which causes Ashley to snap and tell her client that she is making poor decisions.

Ashley disguises herself with glasses and poses as an office worker at Kristin’s old job to take out a rival named Gus and ensure he doesn’t get the account. (This scene was randomly violent, and Gus was oddly attractive. I have a lot of feelings!)

To celebrate the big new client, Kristin goes out with hr co-workers. Ashley shows up and makes Kristin look bad in front of her co-workers and creates a scene. Kristen asks Ashley to leave.

Ashley is set off and takes pictures of Kristin kissing Kevin. Then she sends them to Diane, the big boss, who disapproves. Kristen tries to smooth things over with her boss and explain what happened. She opens up about Ashley and her unconventional life coach.

Meanwhile, Kevin confronts Ashley by a lake. (Which is a bad idea!) Ashley stabs him in the neck with a syringe leaving him writing on the floor. Kevin ends up in the hospital in a coma.

With everything going wrong, Kristin decides to make up with her sister and is surprised to find Ashley there with a new vision board filled with pictures of dead Sara. Kristen is on the phone with Diane and hangs up abbruptly. Ashley cooly follows Kristin around the house until she is splashed in the face with boiling hot water.

Kristin hides in the basement under the stairs. Ashley clomps around the house in chunky boots while holding a butcher knife. Kristen tackles Ashley can call for help. Then she runs into the woods using her jogging skills!

A car pulls up, and it is Diane looking for Kristen. Diane argues with Ashley and Kristen takes the opportunity to syringe Ashley to paralyze her until the police arrive.

One week later, Ashley is running her Life Coaching sessions from prison.
