Stars Cristine Prosperi, Elaine Partnow, Angelie Simone, Travis Burns, and Erin Gray (2022).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

An elderly woman named Tippy comes home from a night out at Christmas time. She talks to her lawn gnomes and hears a rustling from the basement. Someone kills her by pushing her down the stairs.

Cut to San Francisco entrepreneurs/true crime fanatics Diana and Riley. They talk about work and Diana’s new boyfriend, Frank, who is kind of boring and has bad hair. He breaks up with Diana during the holidays because she works too much. While they are breaking up Diana gets a call about her Aunt Tippy’s death.

Riley fulfills her duty as exposition BFF, and we learn that Diana isn’t even related to Aunt Tippy; she is a family friend of a neighbor or something. Aunt Tippy sent Diana Christmas gnomes every holiday. Diana plans to go to Aunt Tippy’s house to settle her affairs. Diana’s ex-boyfriend Matt also still lives there.

A neighbor/friend of Tippy’s named Bridget shows Diana to her room and tells her how she became fast friends with Tippy. There is also an angry housekeeper who is cleaning the crime scene aggressively.

At the funeral, Diana meets a guy named Larry, who is missing a button on his jacket, and a detective named George, who tells Diana that the death was ruled an accident. Then she literally runs into Matt Dempsey at the wake. He tells her that Tippy left the house for Diana. Diana asks Bridget to sell the house for her.

Diana does some investigating and loops Riley in with what is going on. They use True Crime cases to figure out what the heck was going on with Aunt Tippy. They eventually decide to meet with ERIC ROBERTS.

Matt helps Diana pack up Aunt Tippy’s house. They find a Christmas ornament, and when they try to donate it, the guy won’t take it because it is an antique. This reminds Diana of a Christmas Village Aunt Tippy always puts up and goes missing. It turns out to be worth a lot of money. A shady character named Jerry helps Diana sort through what is valuable and what is not.

Diana is on edge and accidentally pepper sprays Matt when he is in her house with Chinese food. That doesn’t stop Matt from working with Diana on her mystery until he becomes a suspect when a Christmas Village box shows up in his backseat.

There is a whole Christmas Village black market in this movie, and Diana meets with one of the dealers who tells Diana she mostly sells to a woman with a burn scar on her arm.

Diana realizes that Bridget likes to cook and confronts her alone. Bridget DOES have a burned arm, and when confronted, Bridget runs to the kitchen and grabs a knife. (All this over a CHRISTMAS VILLIAGE! ABSURD!)

Bridget chases Diana around the house and knocks her out with a garden gnome. Bridget ties Diana up and explains that Tippy had all these valuable collector items just sitting around, and she couldn’t let them go unsold. When Bridget tried to steal the Christmas village, Tippy caught her. The shock causes Tippy to slip down the stairs. Bridget just decided to leave and sell the Christmas Village anyway.

The police track Diana down because she butt-dials the detective.

With Mark, not a suspect anymore, they are free to smooch again. He gifts her a HIDEOUS DETECTIVE gnome. Mark decides to move to San Franciso so Diana can run her business and get her man!

Since this is technically a Lifetime Christmas movie, Diana’s parents show up, and they hot chocolate toast to Aunt Tippy AND Christmas!

Side Note

Eric Roberts and his wife show up in this movie, which is truly iconic.

Minority Report: Riley, George, Arlene
