Synopsis (via Lifetime)

During a business trip to Indiana, event planner Kayley (Kathryn Davis) and sports agent Brett (Olivier Renaud) find themselves unable to fly home for Christmas due to a terrible snowstorm. Determined to get back to New York by Christmas Eve, the two team up and try to make their own way home, but when the storm hits, they’re forced to seek refuge in the sleepy town of Redwood, Ohio; a place that ignites some much-needed Christmas magic in their hearts. (2023)

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Kayley shops for a snow globe in an airport terminal (Where PLANES go) and is stared at by a fellow traveler. Her flight to New York gets canceled, and she asks the flight attendant for help. It is the creepy guy from the store. His name is Brett, and he continues to lurk. Brett asks personal questions, comments on Kayley’s suitcase looking similar to his, and stares… constantly. Kayley is quick to tell him that she has a boyfriend.

After talking about Kayley’s job as an event planner and being a perfectionist, Brett offers to share a rental car with the TRAIN station. They missed the last train from the station, and he offers to drive them to New York after a bathroom break. They get snowed in.

Brett takes Kathryn to his hometown, which is a few miles away, and he hasn’t been home in five years. They stay at his uncle’s house. Brett was a pro quarterback but has been sidelined due to an injury.

Kayley gets settled in her room and ignores a call from her boyfriend, Nick. Then she moved the meeting she was super stressed about. There is a knock at the door, and Brett accidentally takes Kayla’s suitcase. He is embarrassed and weird. The dude is just a weirdo! Thankfully, his cousin Jenna and her daughter Dani join them for dinner to make things less quiet.

The following day, the airlines cannot rebook their seats. Giving them time to help with the Christmas festival when Uncle Eli injures himself falling from a ladder. Kayley will use her event planning skills to help ensure it goes off without a hitch.

Their first task is dressing up like elves and helping at Santa’s workshop. Dani wants a play house like she is Natalie Wood. Kayley suggests that Brett get one for her, but he doesn’t want to meddle in other people’s business. (Suddenly! He certainly has been in Kayley’s business.)

A VERY Canadian woman arrives to visit Uncle Eli, and she helps him bake 200 cookies.

Next, for the festival, Kayley and Brett have to gather donations for a raffle and Christmas trees for a contest. When Brett doesn’t know what to say, Kayley has him role-play and practice his smile. Later, they learn that the money will go to the town football team.

Brett randomly has a child that he is trying to get back to; you’d think he would be more concerned about getting to NYC! Instead, he facetimes that kid and tells him to go to bed so he can spend more time staring at Kayley.

Kayley finally takes a call from Nick and asks him for some more time. They are arguing, and Brett intently listens in on the call.

The auction doesn’t seem too popular, so Kayley posts online that Brett will sign autographs for anyone who comes and places a bid. It creates a line down the block. The town’s football players are excited about a pro footballer in town. They raise three times the money Uncle Eli did last year.

Kayley has a conference call about creme fresh. When the call dropped, she talked to Jenna about her relationship. Nick has been busy, and things have felt off. Jenna is also going through a hard time and is considering (divorce.)

Slipping on ice happens, and somehow it is romantic? Brett wants to show Kayley something, and it isn’t him naked… it’s a playhouse he has been working on for Dani. He asks her to help him fix it up. Then he drops that he has SEVEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS?!?!?!

The barn, decorations, and light are all ruined from the storm when a tree falls on the barn. Kayley is an event planner and pitched an outdoor event in the town square. (We know she is in charge because she has a CLIPBOARD!)

After getting everything squared away and returning to Brett’s family home, Brett makes a meal, and Kayley says it is delicious. Then they argue after he asks if she likes Nick because she never talks to him. Kayley gets upset but continues to ignore Nick’s calls.

The town square event goes really well, and suddenly, Kayley is a matchmaker? Brett stares at her all day and then finally asks her to dance. As they dance in the square, Kayley looks uncomfortable. He talks about asking out a girl named Jill for the first time, and Kayley tells him that she broke up with Nick and it is for the best.

Dani gets her Christmas wish of a doll house, and Brett is surprised by his mother and son, who flew in from New York?!?!?! THIS MAKES NO SENSE! I hate this.

The airline calls and can get a flight back to New York, but Kayley doesn’t know if she should stay or go. When she asks Brett what to do, he says to do what is right for her. Kayley decides to leave. Before she goes, Brett gives her a snow globe. She waits for him to tell her to stay, but he is like, GTFO!!!!

Kayley returns from the train station, and Brett asks her to stay. They kiss because Dani demands it, and whatever Dani wants, Dani gets.
