Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Soon after Donna wakes up in the hospital with amnesia and a baby, news breaks of a kidnapped baby, causing Donna to question if the baby is hers.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Donna has lost her memory and gained a baby? Jessica Lowden plays Donna, and it has been a while since she has done a Lifetime (or Tubi) thriller. Donna talks in a lifeless voice-over and flashes back to a year ago.

Donna was pregnant and married to Scott. They were running a a His and Her’s moving company. While Scott was driving his truck one evening, he got into a head-on collision with a blonde woman named Amira. The accident was caught on camera, and Amira fled from the scene.

Back to the present day, Donna drives her moving truck erratically with a baby in the back seat. She gets into an accident, too, and ends up in a coma. Mason, Donna’s brother, takes care of the baby while Donna is in the hospital for seven days. He watches a video from a frantic couple looking for their missing child. The mother is Amira from Scott’s accident.

Donna wakes up and has retrograde amnesia; she has a three-month-old baby and doesn’t remember giving birth. Donna’s brother tells her that she has been missing and told everyone she had a miscarriage before disappearing. He doesn’t even know the baby’s name.

When Donna gets home, she sees a wall she made about her husband’s accident and cries while smelling his laundry. She passes out and is awakened by a home alarm. Someone was trying to break in. Donna doesn’t remember her life, but she sure recalled that security code quickly! Mason and Donna check the security footage and see Amira. Mason suggests that Donna stole Amira’s child. They run a DNA test on the baby to see what is going on.

Amira is Donna’s friend from high school, and she has an abusive husband, Leon, who is blackmailing her with the accident footage. (So she will stay married to him?) Leon gets jealous when he sees that Mason has been texting Amira. (They had a fling in high school.)

Leon and Donna end up at the same apartment complex, and he pulls out an exacto knife on her. Donna runs to her car and hides under a blanket until he goes away. Leon doesn’t go away; he drags Donna out of the car and asks her why his wife and her dead husband were talking the night he died. Donna is confused, but not because of her amnesia; I think she is cured of that.

Donna tells Mason about Leon. Donna is convinced that Amira and Scott were having an affair and the baby was actually theirs. They go to Leon and Amira’s house, and while casing the joint, Donna sees the couple fighting and screaming about the accident. Mason and Donna call the cops, but the couple says they were just having loud sex.

The DNA results come back, and somehow Donna is only a 23% match. Mason and Amira were having an affair, and the baby is his. Leon found out about the affair and probably the baby. Donna has a meltdown, like Why do they have this baby?!?! Mason and Donna need to get Amira alone and ask her some questions.

Donna finds Amira at a bizarre bulk food grocery store. Amira is like, dude, you have no chill. Donna explains that she lost her memory, and Amira says she gave the baby to Donna to keep her safe. Leon is too dangerous to be around, and Amira can’t leave him because he would kill them all.

Leon catches Amira in a lie, and she locks herself in her room. Leon promises he won’t hurt her, and Amira lets him in, only to be syringed in the neck and held captive. (Like tied to a bed.)

Meanwhile, Mason and Donna look into her serial killer wall about the night Scott went missing. Donna gets a call from Amira, who calls on her Alexa and begs Donna to come help untie her while Leon is gone. Donna rushes off, leaving Mason home alone. (Or maybe with the baby? The baby is so non-essential to this movie.) Leon is in the house and kidnaps the baby. Leon pulls a gun on Mason and pistol-whips him. Mason ends up in the hospital, and they tell detectives what they know.

Leon and Amira have the baby back, and when the detective shows up, Amira and the baby hide from them. They run off with the baby.

Leon promises to show Donna the unedited footage of the night Scott was killed if they drop the assault charge. Donna and Mason comply, and Leon shows Donna what REALLY happened. Amira was at the scene and left Scott to die. Leon gives Donna a gun and Amira’s location.

Vengeful and upset, Donna chases down Amira’s car. Donna chases Amira and shoots at her. As Donna chokes Amira, she tries to explain that Scott was trying to get her out of her abusive relationship and help Mason’s girlfriend. Leon caused the accident by standing in the road, and Leon was going to kill Amira, so THAT is why she ran away.

Leon interrupts their bonding/killing time, and Amira calls 911 and hits Leon with a rock. The police pull up, and Leon tries to escape, but Donna stops him from getting away.

Amira moves away, but doesn’t use Donna’s moving company, and that is just rude.

Mason and Amira raise their daughter. Donna introduces them to her new boyfriend, and the movie randomly ends. Good for her.

STRAY Thoughts

This movie was trying so hard, but it was just such nonsense.

The Amnesia storyline was just a convenient plot point and so inconsistent. Does she remember things or not?

I loved Jessica Lowden’s running around, aimlessly firing a gun while crying. Iconic really.

  1. I am at least delighted to see Jessica Lowndes back on Lifetime. Even if it is a Tubi acquisition

  2. Ive got some advice for everyone out there. If you’ve locked yourself in room, closet etc in order to protect yourself from someone who’s chasing you and wants to hurt you, when they “promise” that they won’t hurt you, that they just wanna “talk” DONT OPEN THE DOOR, DONT BELIEVE THEM!! I’m sorry if you have someone trying to hurt /kill you and they promise to leave you alone dont believe it. If you do, you basically get what’s coming to you. Harsh. But I’m just sayin’

  3. Why didnt her bro just come out and tell the truth about evrything, including that the kid is his? Instead, he acts like she stole the baby, treats her like a criminal etc. Its hard to tell if he’s a good brother or bad one?! Its odd.
