Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Lisa and Al Robertson, known from Duck Dynasty, fell hard and fast, believing they had found a once-in-a-lifetime love. With their marriage and faith hanging by a thread, both must decide if love is worth fighting for, and what it truly means to forgive.

Recap/Wine Thoughts

Is this some pop culture reference I’m supposed to know? Like, I’ve seen memes about Duck Dynasty, and it was like a TV show, but why is it getting the Lifetime treatment?

A scene set in a kitchen with five people interacting. One person sits at a wooden table, while others are standing and talking. The decor is casual with a mix of clothing styles.

The movie begins in the 80s or 90s? Lisa and Alan are high school sweethearts. Alan is from a wild family with lots of boys; his poor mother tries to keep them in line, but the Robertson boys have a bad reputation in town. They are white trash, and Lisa is strictly suburban.

Lisa doesn’t really reform Alan, and then he gets kicked out of the family home and sent to New Orleans while she is still in high school. Lisa starts sleeping with all the boys since Alan left and ends up pregnant.

A man with a thick beard and long hair sits in a wooden chair, looking thoughtfully to the side. The background features a softly lit room with wooden walls.

Alan has a rough time away from home, but comes crawling back to do duck calls with these fake-beard-wearing dads. I’ve heard of Lifetime Movie Wigs, but beards? This beard is awful!

I guess the Duck Dynasty people are super into GOD. The beard guy gives Alan a bible and tells him to live a saved life, get married, and have kids. So Alan goes out to read the good word while fantasizing about Lisa. Alan apologized to Lisa for abandoning her.

A woman lies on a colorful crocheted blanket, looking concerned and placing her hand on her chest, with a vintage telephone nearby.

They decide to start a relationship over and do it the way God intended. No premarital sex, no drinking, and no fun! Lisa lets Alan know that she had an abortion, and he is like, “I already knew, we live in a small town!” They quickly get engaged, married, and have kids.

Al wants to become a preacher. Lisa can’t live with her sins and feels less Godly around the family. She can’t see herself as a preacher’s wife, mainly because of some past trauma from abuse.

A young man with wavy hair sitting shirtless, smiling and looking towards the camera, with a window and dark background behind him.

Lisa quits her job at the bank to help the Duck Family business. She spends more time with Al’s family than Al himself. She runs into the ex-boyfriend, and he makes a pass at her. At first Lisa turns him down, but the n has a full-blown affair. Eve, stealing money from the family business to pay for hotel rondevues.

A man with short hair and a light blue striped shirt looks thoughtfully at the camera, with a colorful stained glass backdrop.

Al notices something is up, and instead of calling on God for answers, he calls the phone company and learns Dillon has been calling the family business line ordering special deliveries. Al confronts Lisa about her infidelities. The phone bill doesn’t have anything on Lisa, and she flat out denies the affair and blames Al for being away for work.

Later, Lisa admits to the affair in front of the whole congregation. She gets baptized to wash away her sins and start a new life. Isn’t that nice!?

Three men with beards sitting in a wooden church interior, looking serious. One man wears a plaid shirt while another has a long beard.

Al forgives Lisa and prioritizes his family. That is the Duck Dynasty origin story, I guess? Why was this made? Who is this for? WTF.

STRAY Thought

  1. yet another BS story where the wife cheats on the husband and gets away with it. Throwing in all that face and forgiveness crap doesn’t forgive what she did. Any real man would cut that bitch loose. There’s no way I would ever want to stay with a wife who opened her legs for another man no matter what the reason is. The fact that it’s Duck Dynasty doesn’t change a damn thing. She cheated she got caught she’s a bitch
