Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Jodi Allen and her mother Andrea moved to suburbia to help Jodi recover from a traumatic home invasion. But when 18-year-old Jodi, while taking photos out her bedroom window, sees a sinister shadow across the street, she panics. Has her nightmare returned? Determined to take action, Jodi goes on a mission to warn her neighbors and find out the truth, only to discover that the shadow may be stalking her.

Thoughts

Andrea is talking to her daughter Jodi on video chat when a home invasion happens. Andrea watches the man attack her daughter and calls 911.

Flash to three months later, Jodi moves back in with her mother for a sense of security. It isn’t beneficial because Jodi is traumatized. Suburbia is not feeling so safe for Jodi. She checks the doors and windows in the middle of the night and walks around with a large butcher knife. It is sad.

A hunky single dad neighbor, Nick, works on his car across the street. Another neighbor, Lisa Miller, runs the neighborhood watch and has a young woman named Kristen staying with her. (Who may be sleeping with another married neighbor named Ted.) Jodi watches all this from her window and takes pictures until Nick catches her taking a picture of him with his shirt while he washes his car and steals Jodi’s camera.

Andrea and Jodi make friends with Lisa and Kristen. They have dinner, and it is interrupted by Nick’s engine revving. Lisa calls the police on her neighbor. Jodi and Andrea uses the opportunity to report the stolen camera, but it is magically back. Jodi suspects Nick of stealing and calls his phone number. Nick tells Jodi that she is creepy and shouldn’t be taking pictures of him half-naked.

With her camera back and a telephoto lens, Jodi is back to taking pictures of the neighbors. She “Rear Windows” it and sees an intruder in Lisa’s house. Jodi runs over to warn Lisa, but Lisa wants to check things out with a golf club. They don’t find anyone inside. Later, Lisa is killed while she is taking a bath and drinking wine. The next day Jodi and Kristen find her body.

Detectives are called, and the question Jodi. Jodi blames Nick and continues to stalk him trying to catch him doing something incriminating. Jodi follows him to a nightclub and sees Nick selling some jewelry. (She suspects to be Lisa’s) Nick spots her again and tries to explain and casually mentions that he has a crush on her. Then they slow dance.

Kristen moves in with Andrea and Jodi and is surprised to learn she is inheriting four million dollars. Kristen’s alibi at a church sleepaway camp checks out, and she is cleared of any wrongdoing. Kristen moves into Lisa’s house. When she gets there, she is followed by the married neighbor named Ted and have sex on the kitchen counter. Ted and Kristen are working together to get Lisa’s money. They killed her and attempted to make it look like an accident.

Jodi has pictures of Ted and Lisa arguing and now suspects him of the crime. She follows Ted and Kristen into the woods and finds the burying evidence.(They also plant the murder weapon in Nick’s garage.) Jodi knows they are having an affair and wants to clear Nick’s name. (After she threw it out there.) Jodi tells her mother, who seems mildly annoyed with her daughter.

Jodi also warns Nick, but it turns into making out instead. The detective shows up with a warrant and searches the property. They find the bloody bat used to kill Lisa and take Nick away. Nick claims his innocents and helps Jodi convince Andrea that her daughter is telling the truth.

Her mother grounds Jodi. Andrea tells Jodi to mind her business. Jodi doesn’t follow her mom’s advice and goes to Ted’s house alone. Ted lets her use the bathroom to “fix a contact,” and Jodi unlocks the shower window to get back in while Ted isn’t home. While Ted is away, Jodi searches his house. Ted and Kristen come home early and have sex. Kristen shoots Ted and makes it look like a suicide. Jodi films the whole thing like a creeper. (I’m seriously wondering how Jodi isn’t the bad guy here too.)

When her battery is full, the camera beeps—giving Jodi away. Kristen pulls a gun on Jodi and forces her into a car. They drive to a remote location in the woods and are followed by Andrea. Jodi is forced to dig her town grave, but Andrea sneaks up and distracts Kristen. The women fight, and Jodi eventually uses her camera to knock Kristen off of her. Andrea gets the gun and holds Kristen until the police arrive.

Jodi hands over the footage, and the detective congratulates her for clearing Nick’s name. Nick is released from prison and reunited with Jodi.
