Synopsis (via Lifetime)
A young girl discovers, to her disgust, that naked photos of her have been uploaded to numerous social media websites from a “revenge porn” webpage. When nothing is done, she makes it her personal crusade to find the perpetrator.
Thoughts
Peyton takes nude photos for plastic surgery in her room and thinks better of it. She then deletes the pictures from her laptop and goes to the last party of high school: her friend Audrey and her plan on going to college together. Then Peyton dances with a football player named Dom. The next morning Peyton is super hungover, and her parents make fun of her. (They know she is partying and drinking and doesn’t seem to care.)
An email and text go out to the whole school of the nudes that Payton took. They not only go to school, but they also go to her parent’s places of employment. The photos are everywhere online, a revenge porn site (Which is not illegal in most states), ExMyEx.com, and social media.
At first, her parents, Elaine and David, blame their daughter, but then try to find justice. Payton tells them that she doesn’t know who would send the pictures. They try to go to school administration and the police; both are unhelpful.
Elaine decides to go after the website owner, Carl Cook. She gets the photos taken down from the site, and the family celebrates. Briefly, Carl Cook doubles down and posts even more nudes of Peyton. Then she meets with other victims of Carl Cook’s harassment and gathers info.
Peyton is bullied online and has a dramatic breakdown. She is allowed to return to school, where she is bullied in person. A boy named Colin objectifies her and gets hands; Peyton knees him in the balls.
Elaine and the other victims work to take Carl Cook down. He is onto them and sends threatening messages to Peyton. He hacks into Elaine’s accounts and freezes them. They go back to the police, who do nothing. Then they are attacked by a drone in a ridiculous car chase scene!!!! Haha.
Peyton’s college scholarship and admission are revoked. Audrey posted the photos because she is a terrible friend. She apologizes, but Peyton refuses to forgive her. The damage is done.
Police arrest David due to mistaken identity. Carl Cook hacked the police database. NOW the police care and start looking for the dirtbag. He confronts Elaine outside of yoga class and reveals that he is a former student of hers. He was obsessed with her and sent her inappropriate love notes. She had him kicked out of her school and blames her for ruining his life.
The incident causes Peyton and Elaine to double down and go after Carl Cook even harder. Elaine makes a serial killer wall and gathers evidence to take him down. She finds evidence of hacking and stealing pictures. Cyber Crimes division arrest Carl and the police take him into custody. Peyton and Elaine watch the site gets taken down.
The victims of Carl Cook’s website testify against him in court. He gets seven years in prison.
Since this isn’t based on a true story, Carl breaks into their house, hacks the CO2 tanks, and holds the family at gunpoint. Elaine and Carl get into a knock down drag out fight. Peyton grabs a CO2 tank and hits Carl with it while yelling, “DON’T MESS WITH MY FAMILY!”
Carl is sent away to jail for a long time. Peyton reconnects with Dom, the guy from the party. He genuinely seems to like her and asks her to prom. She agrees. It is the lamest promposal; Peyton deserves better.
