Synopsis (via Lifetime)

Sophie’s husband is killed in the line of duty as a police officer; now, she goes undercover to solve his last case as she deals with her gravely ill daughter.

Thoughts

Sophie calls her cop husband and reminds him to pick up a cake for their daughter’s birthday. When Doug picks up the cake (Which looks pretty lame.), a person in blue hoodie shoots and kills him in a robbery gone wrong.

With her husband gone, Sophie spends most of her time crying and hugging a picture of him. She also takes care of her daughter, who has asthma. Sophie, who is also a cop, stops working at her desk job and goes undercover out in the field. She works as an efficiency expert and pisses off a receptionist when she arrives.

In the office, Sophie overhears a couple arguing over money, and she suspects a co-worker, Ryan, of stealing digital cash or something. Her sleuthing is cut short when she gets a call from the hospital. Chloe has an attack and can’t breathe. She is put on oxygen and signs up for an experimental treatment.

Sophie goes on a lunch date with Noah, and he tells her about CyberCash, and they flirt a bit. Team bonding happens on a rock wall, and Sophie almost dies. Someone who really dies is Ryan. He gets into his car, and it explodes, detonated by the person in the blue hoodie. Sophie is more determined than ever to catch the killer and find out… WHO KILLED HER HUSBAND. (To be honest, she doesn’t seem to care that much.) Ryan’s girlfriend/co-worker seems to care and creates a scene at work. The boss pays her off to keep her quiet.

Meanwhile, Sophie is taking care of Chloe after her groundbreaking surgery. (This woman can do it all.) She bonds with Chloe, who is her stepdaughter. They cry over Doug’s death and work on repairing their relationship. Chloe is released from the hospital. They run into Noah in the park; he also has an inhaler and went through a similar situation. Chloe tries to set up Sophie and Noah.

Uncle Sam (Not that one. This is clearly a Canadian oversight.) has been working with Sophie this whole time. He is in trouble when he goes to look for evidence on his own. He witnesses Noah transferring lots of REAL cash, not digital cash, in a drop. Noah shoots Uncle Sam.

Chloe is kidnapped from the hospital by Noah, who has earned her trust. Sophie tracks her down by tracking her iPad. (Haha.) They run around a warehouse for a long time—Chloe fakes an asthma attack and gives Sophia enough time to overpower Noah and take his gun.

Sophie realizes that Ryan’s girlfriend was extorting money and having an affair with Noah. She shoots Noah and blows on the gun, like a cartoon. Sophie is saved by an undercover detective who has been following her the whole time and keeping an eye on her.

Chloe celebrates another birthday and receives a hypoallergenic dog. Sophie makes her own cake this time, which seems like a good call.
