Synopsis (via Hallmark)
Holly, a jewelry designer, finds a lost charm bracelet and teams up with investigative reporter Greg in hopes of finding the owner and returning it by Christmas Eve.
Thoughts
Holly is a jewelry designer with fabulous hair. She finds a charm bracelet in her store that she is sure no one would have given away. Greg is a reporter who wears jeans and suit jackets. They run into one another on the street, and Greg asks her out on a date. Holly says, “No, thank you!” because she is looking for the charm bracelet owner.
While walking around town, Holly runs into Greg again. He learns about her search and offers to help, and continue to hit on her shamelessly. Holly turns him down again. THEN he stalks her online and shows up at her place of employment. He demands her time and insists they go to lunch together. Holly reluctantly goes with him since it is a public place and asks for separate checks. (Tip to everyone out there. Do not stalk someone, show up at their work while they are working, and demand their time. It is terrifying and has happened to me. It is not romantic, and it is not cute.)
Moving on, Holly and Greg walk around and talk. For a loooong time. Greg talks about his integrity as a writer and how he almost ruined a man’s life by publishing a false story. He gets a call from his mom, who needs help with a gingerbread emergency. (Is there any other kind?) Holly helps him and finds out embarrassing detail about his childhood.
A customer shows up and tries to claim the charm bracelet, but she is totally lying. Greg and Holly decide instead of talking to jewelers, they need to speak to charm collectors. Instead of doing that, they make hot cocoa and decorate a tree, complete with a train set underneath.
Greg has a work Christmas party, and he brings Holly as his date. They show a collector the charms and determine that the owner is most likely Russian or German and involved in the Nutcracker ballet. Then secret Santa happens. Boss Sheila loves his gift. Greg encourages Holly to start her own jewelry line.
The next day, Greg takes Holly on a surprise journey and makes her dress up like she is from the 1930s, then he takes her on a steam train. They take a selfie and dance on the train platform. They don’t ride the train because of COVID. They find a train employee named Buddy, he doesn’t know but reads the bracelet better than they did, and now they have name initials.
Greg is worried that they aren’t going to find the owner and starts working on another story, blowing off Holly in the process. Holly finds out when one of Greg’s devices reads his text out loud. He tries to explain, but she doesn’t have it and storms off, betrayed. Greg’s boss tries to talk some sense into him and tells him not to give up on the story.
At the same time Greg and Holly remember the elves and find an Elves Gala. They show up together and search for owner of the bracelet. The director of the event doesn’t remember who it could belong to. She directs them to a hallway of photos from every gala. They find the owner very easily. Then the two visit their home and give Elena and Jon the bracelet. They tell the story of the bracelet, it got donated by accident. Jon gifted Elena charms through out their lives. Holly and Greg unintentionally relived their romance story through the charms.
Greg gets high praise at work, but then he gets fired. Holly decides to open her own Jewelry store. They celebrate Christmas with each others family and Greg gifts Holly her own charm to start their love story. They kiss. The end!
