A journeyman hockey player falls for a real estate agent in a career crisis when he’s traded to her hometown and moves into the cottage in her hockey loving family’s backyard.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Ashley works in business and is taking a five-hour flight for work, and her partner/boyfriend? Trevor is a jerk!
Hockey player Scott is in the same airport in Idaho. He has been traded to a new team and is unhappy about it.

The two run into each other at a Hudson News checkout and have snarky banter. Ashley welcomes him to Idaho Falls, and he invites her to one of his minor league games. (Oh, no, why are we creating with sports!?) They accidently switch credit cards at the check out and will have to track each other.
It’s hockey rink time! Scott’s dad was a great hockey player, and Scott will be living at the rink. His new team is ragtag, and they don’t seem to be into him being on it. Scott is overconfident and sees the team as a stepping stone to the NHL. Every locker room scene has NO SHIRTLESS HUNKS!

Ashley’s family are huge hockey fans. They force her to go to a game, and she reluctantly accompanies them. As the game continues, Ashley remembers that Scott has her debit card and screams at him while he plays. He gets distracted and hit in the head with a puck. Ashley apologizes after the game and makes him walk with her to get their cards back. The Waitress and wreath guy are very skeptical but give them their cards back.

The hockey team has to do philanthropy, including tea parties for little girls! Scott works as a tea pouring guy and he is annoyed. He should be on the ice not at a “Cider Social!” Ashley is there, too, and she enjoys seeing Scott. She also continues to evade her family’s questions about her boyfriend coming to town.

Hockey can happen outside. (News to me!) Scott is a natural coach and helps a group of kids with their game. One of the kids is, of course, Ashley’s nephew. She takes the ice, and they talk about their childhoods and career trajectories. Ashley is considering moving back home and helping her sisters with her real estate business. Scott is afraid of being a coach because his father believed in that old adage.”Those who can’t… teach.” (Which is rude.) Scott gets a chance to coach the kids Christmas Hockey Game.

Ashley finally comes clean to her parents about her breakup with Trevor. They are very understanding, like too understanding. The parents are basically like we HATE Trevor he sucks and you’re perfect, daughter.

At the Kids Christmas Game, Scott really nails the whloe coaching thing and finds his passion. Ashley and her family watch her nephew, Parker, make the winning shot in the game. Ashley invites Scott to her house to have dinner. He agrees to join her. The dinner goes really well and Scott is so sweet with Ashley’s grandma. The grandma makes him some STRONG eggnog and gives him a hand knitted scarf. Ashley is falling in LOVE!

Back at the hockey rink, Scott’s coach gives him a Coaching Bible. Scott says he doesn’t want to coach, and his coach says isn’t something that you choose to do, coaching chooses you!

The Christmas Jamboree happens, because it is about that time in the movie. Scott is going to get the REAL Idaho Falls experience, which is fishing fish Christmas Ornaments out of a bunch of Christmas ornaments. (Which is differently different!) The fun is interrupted by Ashley’s co-workers who needs her back to sell some NYC real estate by December. Ashley tells Scott about the call right away, which is a change for Hallmark! Scott is supportive and tells Ashley that she doesn’t need to make a decision right now.

More family time happens, and Scott shares that he has NEVER built a snowman. Then Scott goes back to the hockey place and thinks he is getting cut, but then he finds out that he has been bumped up to Boise, Idaho for the next hockey level. (But what about Ashley!?!?!)

Ashley and Scott exchange Christmas gifts. It is awkward because every sentence they utter is breathless with longing to be together. Will he stay in town and be with Ashley and her family??? Will Ashley even stay in town???
Scott calls Ashley’s phone and talks to her nephew but changes his mind. Ashley is too busy talking to her toxicology positive parents who are SOOOOOO supportive.
Back at the airport, which is so chill, Ashley looks at magazines about being single and she is interrupted by Scott who tells her that he is staying in town and taking the coaching job. They kiss (with tonsil hockey) and that is the movie!
