Synopsis (via Lifetime)
When Zoe wakes up to find her husband murdered beside her in bed with no memory of anyone entering their home, she becomes the prime suspect. To clear her name, she must uncover the real killer and stop them before they finish what they started.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
A blonde lady heads up to her penthouse suite and puts on a Billie Holiday record while drinking a glass of wine. She drops to the floor and starts convulsing while a figure stands over her and watches her die.
With the apartment now on the market, newly engaged Deon and Imani tour the penthouse. The price is too good to be true, and the doorman is creepy! Even still, they sign on the dotted line and move into the place, quickly making it their own.
Deon’s ex-wife, Tamera, lives in the building, and it is a strange coincidence. Deon tells his NEW fiancée that she has nothing to worry about. The past is in the past! Tamera isn’t the only bad neighbor; there is his guy who blasts music late at night. (He is later poisoned too!)
At work, Deon has an unexpected visit from Tamera. She says she is happy for him and even invites herself to dinner. Tamera is too familiar with Deon, calling him “Woody” and talking about their lawyer jobs, excluding Imani with legal advice. While she is in the house, Tamera installs nanny cams.
Tamera moves in next door and ingratiates herself in Deon’s life. She even plans a surprise birthday party with Deon’s old college friends, further ostracizing Imani. The only reason Imani finds out about the party is that her sister is working at the venue as a bartender. Deon needs to get it together.
Imani is done waiting for her man to set boundaries. She breaks into Tamera’s laptop, which is filled with photos and videos of surveillance of the couple. There are even photos of Tamera with a pregnancy test. Imani went to the police, but I’m not sure what she plans to do.
Deon is the next to be poisoned, but he survives. Tamera is his emergency contact, which pisses Imani off. She issues a protective order and tells them to stay away from Tamera. Tamera is evicted, and she calls someone to “take care of things.”
Imani blocks Tamera’s number on Deon’s phone, sending Tamera into a tailspin. She chases after Imani’s sister, Jada, and the power goes out. The creepy doorman gets Devon into the basement and attacks him, but Imani stabs him with a screwdriver.
Tamera is waiting for them in their apartment. She has a gun and says that Imani and her sister are manipulating Deon. She was telling the truth, and Imani shoots them both.
Imani holds them hostage and is getting revenge for her brother, who took a plea deal. Devon was the lawyer on the case. Imani killed the blonde lady and music man because they framed her brother for the murder of their father. It is convoluted and set up as a big twist, but it mostly ends up confusing.
Tamera and Deon laugh the whole thing off. Good for them!
STRAY Thought
I don’t encourage these Tubi acquisitions, but they seem more common this year.
