Synopsis (via Lifetime)

A serial killer masquerades as a preacher to prey on women. His last wife may have committed suicide, and his current wife is sick. Single mom Trish and her daughter move to town and are in jeopardy of becoming his next victims.

Thoughts

Two people have sex in a hot tub surrounded by candles. They are having an affair, oh, and the man is a minister. A sinister minister. DJ comes home to find his wife murdered.

Carol, DJ’s wife’s friend, stands by DJ’s side. She continues to go to his services. Trish and Siena move to town and attend as well. They watch Carol’s son, George, be baptized, and DJ’s speech significantly moves Trish.

Trish gets a job working for DJ and starts spending a lot of time with him, much to Siena’s dismay, who thinks the minister wants to get into her mother’s pants. Siena rebels against her mother by stealing her car and going out to bars all night. The outburst doesn’t go as planned, and when Siena comes home, she finds DJ and Trish making out on the couch.

DJ wins over Siena by talking about boys with her, and he seems to be crossing a line. Trish finds him in Siena’s bedroom in the middle of the night and suspects him, but he gaslights her. Siena and DJ flirt via text through the night.

Siena is arrested for smoking weed at school and calls her father. Wells shows up and apologizes to Trish. He wants her back and has gone to therapy. He decides to stay in town for a few days in a hotel. That doesn’t last long because Wells and Siena “leave” Trish and tell her never to contact them.

In a moment of weakness, DJ proposes to Trish, and she agrees because she doesn’t want to be alone. They get married the next day, and Trish cries through the whole thing. Afterward, DJ spikes her drink, and Trish gets violently ill and passes out. Then DJ goes to a motel and brings flowers to Siena, who he has tricked into thinking they will be moving in together. He is manipulating both women.

Hikers find a body on the trail, and it turns out to be Wells. Detectives let Trish know about her husband, and she files a missing person, but DJ admits to “having seen” Siena around town. Trish screams at DJ to give her his cellphone. She calls her daughter and breaks the news. Siena hangs up on her mother.

The lady detective talks to Trish and places doubts in her mind about DJ. Trish hacks into DJ’s computer. (The first password she tries is Jesus. Haha. “Siena” unlocks the computer.) Trish knows that he is sleeping with her daughter. Then she finds documents, including the “letter,” Siena wrote.

Trish finds her daughter and collapses from drugs that DJ gave her. Siena grabs a knife and threatens to stab a semi-shirtless DJ. He uses his minister’s speech skills on her and says he did it all for her. He also explains that he is framing her. The detective shows up and then pistol whips DJ in the face. The police tell him he has the right “to shut his damn mouth.” (HAHA!)

Mother and daughter embrace in the hospital. They promise to get the hell out of town once Trish is better.
