Synopsis (via Lifetime)

When 7-year-old Jocelyn Shaker is mysteriously abducted from a resort in the Colombian rainforest, her rich Columbian stepfather and American mother are accused of being involved.

Thoughts

Despite the title, this is NOT based on a true story.

The movie begins in the Columbian jungle with Caitlin Shaker raising her daughter Josie with her hot AF husband, Javier. They get ready for a date night with their friend Maria. When the babysitter is running later, the couple decided to leave their daughter alone. WHATS THE WORST THAT WOULD HAPPEN!

Jocelyn goes missing, and the couple does press to help find their missing daughter. It backfires, and the media drags them for leaving their daughter home alone. Then they are questioned by the police. Captian Rojas also suspects the parents. They arrest hunk Javier and consider the case closed.

Caitlin goes to the American embassy and screams about being an American and having money. Caitlin is desperate. She demands the FBI or CIA to come and help her. There is not much they can do if Columbian authorities Caitlin realizes that she is on her own. (Well, not really, Susanna helps her.)

Maria starts to get very upset that Caitlin is still looking into her daughter’s disappearance. They drive around and ask questions. Caitlin suspects a florist, and they bombard his truck. Her daughter is not inside, and Caitin has an emotional breakdown. She goes home and finds a ransom note with a hair clip. The demand is 2 million dollars. When Caitlin tells Maria about the letter, Maria goes to the police against Caitlin’s wishes.

Caitlin goes to the drop pint alone with the money. It is a work colleague of Javier’s. He takes the money and runs, but gets into a car accident. Caitlin chases after the car and hears a cell phone ringing. When she answers the phone, it is Maria on the other end of the line.

On a rainy and DARK night, Caitlin finds her daughter alive. Maria pops out with a gun and calls Caitlin a gold-digging whore. Maria is jealous and wanted to be with Javi. Caitlin calls Maria fridged and barren. (Which is rude.) They fight and are thrown through a window. Suzanna shows up on the scene and shoots Maria. The other police arrive as Caitlin screams for her daughter.

Jocelyn is safe and reunited with her mother. Oh shit! Nooooo! The police Captain is working with Maria and shoots everyone. Like literally all his co-workers, including Suzanna. Caitlin bravely comes out and begs the police captain to do the right thing. While he is distracted, she pulls out a gun and shoots him multiple times. Not only does this woman save her daughter, but she also saves the whole police force, which is pretty badass.

Javier is released from prison and the family eat cotton candy in the town square. Javi and his wife kiss in slow motion. The end!
