Jess (Kirsten Comerford) the “Queen of Christmas Sweaters,” quits her job at the hottest fashion label in NYC, intent on winning a Christmas competition with her own line of sustainable luxury knits. Getting her hands dirty, she teams up with Andrew (Matt Wells), a single dad and struggling alpaca farmer, as she helps bring Christmas joy to the farm and love into both of their hearts.

Recap/Wine Thoughts
Jess owns a boutique and is obsessed with Alpacha wool. Oh wait, no, she is an ALPACHA SWEATER DESIGNER. Jess mistakes the Alpacha farm owner, Andrew Flannery, for a model for her new line of Alpacha sweaters. According to the boss, Jess’ sweaters aren’t soft enough, and the wool is too thick. The sweaters are rejected, and Alpacha wool is just not cool enough. The line is canceled, and hundreds of sweaters will go to waste. That is fast fashion for you.
Jess isn’t having it, and she tells off her boss, Gwen. Jess wants to be more sustainable, so she quits her job and enters a Runway to Christmas contest. The grand prize is having her designs in major department store nationwide. Jess skips Christmas in Italy with her family and stays to work on her collection.
There is only one problem, Jess needs Alpacha wool. So she calls up Andrew Flannery, and when he doesn’t answer, she ventures out to the farm to ask him to provide materials for her sweater-making. I’m not sure what the incentive is for Andrew to help her. He is busy running the farm and being a single dad raising his daughter, Georgia. Andrew has been burned by the fashion industry more than once and isn’t interested. Alpacha fur isn’t even called wool. It is called fleece.
Jess meets Andrew’s sister, Christine, who spills the tea on Andrew’s desire to sell the Alpacha farm. (He has lost his passion since his wife Emily died.) Christine agrees to help Jess get the fleece she needs in exchange for 50% of the prize money to save the Alpacha farm! Andrew reluctantly agrees, but Jess will have to work on the farm. (He can’t hire farmhands.)
No one is surprised when Jess is ill-equipped and underestimates the hard work it would take to run the Alpaca farm. Andrew, Georgia, and Jess work on the farm and share meals every night. They get to know one another. Georgia is having a hard time because it is her first Christmas without her mother. Jess talks to her and tells Georgia that it is okay to miss her mother. Jess offers to help make an outfit for Georgia’s Christmas pageant. It was something Georgia and her mom did together,
Andrew and Jess sit by the fire, and he tells her about how beautiful the sky is on the farm on early Christmas morning. The sky is so blue he calls it Flannery Blue. Jess is inspired and dyes the fleece to match the shade of blue he remembers. (Didn’t Old Navy do this in the early 2000s?)
We are halfway through the movie and the farm is saved from being sold, the designs are done, what is left to do??????
A PHOTOSHOOT MONTAGE!!!!!! (Andrew is the model, naturally!) Oh boy, it isn’t a montage we see the whole photoshoot… complete with location (but strangely not wardrobe changes!) The submission for the competition is complete!
Jess also completes the costume for the Christmas pageant, and Georgia loves it! (She is dressed up as a furry horse!!!!!)
A call comes in, and Jess unceremoniously wins the whole competition. She will get a cash prize in the mail and now has to assemble a runway show. Department stores also want to make adjustments to the design. Synthetic fleece!!!!! Jess agrees to the blend, breaking Andrew’s integrity. He is offended that Jess would even consider the offer and tells her to keep her money and SHOVE IT!
It is time for the BIG fashion show. Backstage, Jess talks with Mr. Beverly and pitches only 100% alpaca fleece. Andrew and Georgia sit in front of ROW at the fashion show and love seeing the designs. (Maybe I’ve seen too much Project Runway, but the styling here is WILD.) Jess makes a speech after, which isn’t really required. She shouts out the farm and announces the 100% pure alpaca fleece.
Backstage, everyone praises Jess, including her BFF, old boss, and Georgia. Jess begs Andrew to take on the contract to save the farm. He agrees and apologizes for his overreaction. He was afraid of change but is ready to embrace Jess in more ways than one. They kiss the end!!!!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
