Eve, a troubled young woman who grew up in a dangerous cult finds herself smitten with a new love interest. As the story unfolds, she is haunted by the violence of her childhood, and she will go to any length to get what she wants and hide her deadly past. Stars Katherine Gibson, Jack Pearson, and Eric Roberts (2024).
Recap/Wine Thoughts
A couple share a bottle of wine over a candle-lit dinner. Nick, a handsome, recently divorced man, tells his date he wants to pump the breaks and not get too serious. She doesn’t take it well and poisons him. Then she waits to watch him drink it and die in front of her as she rectes a poem.
“He seems like the gods equal that man, whoever he is.
He takes a seat so close, a cross from you, and listens raptly to your lifting voice and lovely laughter….” Okay, this poem is too long to type out, I thought she was gonna do a hike.
Eve wastes no time moving on to her next man; she becomes obsessed with a health influencer called Aiden, @AidenIsWinning. She thinks he is noble for helping others and literally runs into him on a job. They exchange numbers, and Eve watches all of Aiden’s videos.
Caleb is Aiden’s roommate and BFF. He helps Aiden film his videos. And hopes to be a YouTuber as well. (That is, if he wasn’t too busy smoking weed and watching Love Island, AKA me.) Caleb encourages Aiden to text Eve and coaches him on how to respond best. They set up a dinner.
The date looks pretty familiar. Same wine and candle set up. Eve and Aiden get pretty drunk and talk about failed dreams. Aiden wanted to be a pilot, but he is color blind. Eve grew up with strict parents who didn’t let Eve listen to music. RANDOMLY, Ted, who lives in the coach house, interrupts the date with his adorable wiener dog. The mood is ruined, and we don’t even get a post-date kiss?!?!
Eve watches a livestream and becomes jealous when a girl does a hundred push-ups and acts flirty with Aiden. Then, Eve goes to therapy with DOCTOR, Eric Roberts. (Not the stalked by kind, here he plays a therapist.) He is helping Eve work through some major trauma.
Therapy isn’t working because Eve poses as a rideshare driver and strangles the push-up girl (and randomly a pop star?) in the backseat of the car. With Jenna out of the way, Eve fills in on Aiden’s YouTube channel.
Apparently, filming YouTube videos is an aphrodisiac because Eve and Aiden get it on. Afterward, Aiden gets a call from Jenna’s manager telling him her client has been murdered. Aiden is upset but more concerned with a contest winner flying in for brunch with him and the (now dead) pop star, Jenna.
Eve sees Adien having brunch and serenading the contest winner and is jealous again. The contest winner ends up in a freak car accident because her break cables are cut, and the police suspect foul play.
Back in therapy, Eric Roberts causes Eve to have flashbacks to her abusive father and family trauma. Eric Roberts encourages Eve to tell Aiden about her parent’s untimely death, and when she goes, she feels closer than ever to him. (Meaning they have sex, no, wait, they watch a movie.) Eve gets upset while watching the film and throws the remote at the TV. Aiden comforts her and notices a tattoo on Eve’s neck. (He googles it and learns that it is a cult symbol.)
Aiden’s sister, Lindsey, stops by and gets a bad vibe from Eve. Lindsey tells Aiden to keep his distance. Aiden doesn’t take his sister’s advice and doubles down, asking Eve about her family and learning they were religious. He also starts catching Eve in little white lies because she is having trouble keeping her story straight.
Caleb listens to Aiden’s concerns about Eve and tells him everything he knows about the satanic cult Eve may have been a part of. Aiden decides to cancel a date with Eve.
Eve doesn’t take the cancellation well and lurks around the house. Ted, the guy with the dog from the coach house, finds Eve, and she bashes him in the head with a brick. Ted ends up in a coma at the hospital, and Eve can’t have him talking. She goes to the hospital and smothers Ted with a pillow.
Aiden visits his friend and finds Ted dead in his hospital bed. The nurse on staff mentions that a girlfriend is stopping by, and Ted knows Eve is involved. Caleb helps lookup Eve on the internet, and they see she was convicted of the attempted murder of her ex-boyfriend.
Eve has another flashback while in therapy with Eric Roberts and remembers killing her father while he was strangling her mother. She lashes out in the session and then threatens Eric Robert’s family if he tells her parole officer anything.
Dressed in a sexy red dress, Eve stops by Aiden’s house, and he confronts her about Ted, Jenna, and all of his suspicions. Eve pulls a gun on him and threatens to kill him. Caleb comes home and gets shot instead. Then Sister Lindsey jumps out of nowhere and grabs Eve’s gun. The gun goes off, and it seems like Eve has been hit. She disappears.
Eve has a final session with Eric Roberts and SUPRISE; he is the cult leader. HaHAHAHA!
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
Katherine Gibson is such a great find! Get her in a Christmas movie ASAP!
Friend of Lifetime Uncorked, Michael DeVorzon, wrote this bad boy and has a cameo in the first scene. (One a Lifetime Hunk, always a Lifetime Hunk.)
Jack Pearson is REALLY hot. He also has good knife skill and can probs really throw down in the kitchen. Swoon!
