Synopsis (via Hallmark)
Exes Lara and Ben compete in a Christmas contest to win money for the charity of their choosing. The city watches them battle and choose which is more important, victory or love.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Candace Cameron Bure untangles lights her whole life, and then grows up and stops doing that for her mom, Barbara Niven. WHO IS IN A RETIREMENT CENTER? Oh no, it is a Senior Center) Candace Cameron Bure has a job. Yes, C.C.B. is the C.O.O. of a corporation.
Ben Winters is a former professional Baseball player who is now doing SPON for Winter’s Christmas Jerky.
Candace Cameron Bure is surprisingly not all about Christmas. When her mom suggests it, she enters the “Daytime Denver Christmas Contest” to win money for the senior center. Candace Cameron Bure mocks her mother, saying she is too busy with work. She later has a change of heart and writes an essay titled “What is Christmas?” to enter the contest.
Ben and Candace Cameron Bure are both selected for the Christmas contest. They used to be engaged and had a lot of animosity toward each other. They compete in a trivia portion, and both shout out the answers at the same time… loudly. They are both competitive and annoying!
For their next competition, they have to bake. Ben and Candace Cameron Bure try to stop bickering, but it doesn’t work. Ben recruits kids to help him with the baking because who can make kids lose? Candace Cameron Bure gets seniors to help her, including Ben’s grandma. Things go well until Candace Cameron Bure slips on a gumdrop that Ben dropped.
Rumors start flying that Ben and Candace Cameron Bure are dating again after a photo with Santa goes viral and is picked up by the tabloids.
Singing and Dancing happen in the third part of the competition, and it is awful. Ben and Candace Cameron Bure make it to the final round.
Barbara Niven has a talk with Ben about not breaking her daughter’s heart AGAIN. He promises not to, and then goes after Candace Cameron Bure with some fireside flirting. She isn’t falling for him.
After working with the kids, Ben wants to start a nonprofit and asks Candace Cameron Bure to join him. She is still skeptical of him. But she does quit her C.O.O. job, so not too skeptical. When Ben hears she quit his job, her chickens out, and Candace Cameron Bure is annoyed, they have the same argument again.
It is the final of the contest, and Lara quits because she didn’t decorate the tree. Ben’s tree is upside down because Candace Cameron Bure turned his world upside down.
They both end up winning and split the money. Ben and Candace Cameron Bure agree to date and go into business together.
