Synopsis (via Lifetime)
After her father’s death, 15-year-old Emma is now living with her Aunt Angela and navigating high school. However, Angela’s husband begins to suspect that Emma may not be as innocent as she appears, and a new girl at school seems to know her secrets.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Emma is back, and she is still a bad child! If you had any questions about that, she leads a little doggie to the woods and stabs it (off camera! Thankfully.)
We get a title card summarizing what happened in the last movie, which is basically that Rob Lowe is not in the film.
Three weeks earlier. Emma is practicing being an average teen in the mirror and stressing over making the dance team. She is living with her Aunt Dt. Angela, her husband, Robert, and the Cade baby. Rob inexplicably speaks Spanish and encourages Emma to be more social. He wants her to go to a prestigious boarding school.
Surprisingly, Emma has friends in school; she is also smart?!? Kat, just Kat, is a dyed-haired alternative transfer student who is unimpressed with Emma’s try-hard demeanor.
Dance team tryouts happen, and the coach is all about “Face.” Emma stays late to perfect the routine. Stephanie seems to be outperforming Emma, which could be deadly.
While Rob teaches Spanish lessons on Zoom, Emma watches as Baby Cade sneaks out of his crib and crawls to the unfenced pool. Angela loses it on Rob because he was supposed to build a fence. To make matters worse, Emma over-salts the soup Rob made.
Kat declines Emma’s invitation to sit with her and her friends at lunch. Kat says she remembers Emma but doesn’t say where from. They went to school together, and Kat knows about the murders.
When Robert and Angela tell Emma that she got into the boarding school, she smashes a clementine and screams into a pink fluffy pillow. Then she organizes some office supplies and primps in the mirror.
Emma has nightmares of all the terrible things she has done in the past. Like, killing her teacher, friend, and dad.
The sabotage of Rob continues; this time, Emma starts a grease fire in the kitchen, nearly setting the house on fire. Dr. Angela is horrified, and Emma comes to save the day.
Emma talks to her Zoom therapist (Played by the original Bad Seed child, Patty McCormack) to get advice. Emma decides to apologize to Uncle Robert for the juice boxes and to thank him for getting her into the private school. Rob returns to working on his car, and it falls on him. Emma walks around the vehicle whistling instead of helping him like a proper psycho.
Stephanie throws a slumber party and invites the girls from the dance team AND Kat. Kat talks mad trash to Emma’s face. Then they play Never Have I Ever. The questions include:
1) Never have I ever made out in the front seat of a car.
AND
2) Never have I ever KILLED SOMEONE??!?!
The party is cut short, thankfully for Emma, because Rob is in the hospital. Emma helps take care of Angela and, reluctantly, Baby Cade. Dr. Angela is very thankful.
Rob is released from the hospital, much to Emma’s disappointment. She also doesn’t make the dance team captain and is pissed!
We are back to the dog-killing, and it drives Kat to confront Emma about all the horrible things she has done, and Emma riles Kat up into slapping her in front of a teacher. Emma tells Angela about the altercation and plays the victim.
Stephanie is the new team dance captain, and Emma sends her a flashing text to trigger her epilepsy. Stephanie dies in the hospital.
Kat isn’t the only one who questions Emma’s actions. Emma admits to letting the dog out to get back at Stephanie. Angela sees the door camera footage of Emma kidnapping the dog and starts to think Emma is capable of a lot worse.
Angela starts looking into mental illness online and settles on Antisocial Personality Disorder. Emma finds the research on Angela’s computer and takes a test online to see if she is a psychopath. She gets the results that read, “Congratulations! You’re a Psychopath!”
Rob tells Emma he knows that Emma tried to kill him. He says he won’t tell Angela because he wants her to leave him and his family alone. Then they talk in Spanish!
Angela returns to Emma’s hometown to speak with the town sheriff. He tells Angela that Rob Lowe told him, “There is something wrong with her; I have to protect him from herself.” Angela calls home frantically and rushes back home.
Emma is left alone with Rob on a stormy evening. She calls Kat and tells her that she is a good person and that she needs someone to talk to. Emma promises to tell Kat everything that happened. She also invites her new boyfriend, Nathan, over.
Kat comes over and gives Emma relationship advice over hot chocolate. Kat realizes she is next on Emma’s kill list and tries to escape, but the hot chocolate is laced with pills. Emma calls 911 and cries for help. She blames Kat for starting a fire and hangs up. Then she deletes the recording Kat was taking on her phone and removes her pepper spray. Emma is a psycho and is proud of it.
Baby Caleb’s crying wakes Rob up. He wheels around the house looking for Angela or Emma, unable to do the stairs to help the baby. When Rob makes it upstairs, he realizes it is just an audio clip of the baby crying on an iPad.
Emma starts another grease fire in the kitchen as Rob struggles up the stairs. This time it is more extensive and spreads faster. Emma dumps gasoline all over the house in slow motion, just in case. She places the jugs of gasoline in Kat’s hands and leaves Rob to burn. Emma apologizes before running out of the house.
Angela comes home just in time and sees Emma. She calls her a monster and a liar before rushing to save Robert. She doesn’t make it.
Emma stands outside with baby Caleb in her arms, screaming for help as the fire and police arrive. She cries in Nathan’s arms and watches the house burn.
A social worker talks to Emma and tells her that she will rise above as creepy music plays.
