Synopsis (via Lifetime)

It’s Christmas Eve and Aubrey is rushing to Chicago for the birth of her sister’s baby. Her plane is grounded in a snow storm, leaving her stranded for the night at a small town airport. Aubrey unexpectedly stumbles into the middle of a kidnapping and throws herself into danger as she tries to save the young girl stranded at the airport with them. Stars Monaye Moyes, Michael Silberblatt, Lisa Long, Sophie McLeod, Bryan Bachman, Jenna Zhu (2024).

Recap/Wine Thoughts

A young girl gets locked in an airplane Museum. (Like the doors are chained shut.) She starts freaking out and eventually bumps into her kidnapper.

Aubrey tries to make it home for Christmas to her pregnant sister. A winter storm makes that problematic, and Aubrey tries to make a last-minute flight. Unfortunately, she has a fear of flying. Aubrey goes to the bathroom and works through her trauma by talking to herself in the mirror. She hates flying and blames herself for her parent’s death because she couldn’t fly to see them. (?) Everything on the flight goes wrong; Aubrey’s seatmate is particularly chatty, a kid kicks her seat, Aubrey’s seatbelt won’t work, and when they hit some turbulence, the plane is diverted and grounded on Christmas Eve.

This storm looks pretty bad

The passengers are unruly and frantically trying to rebook flights. A man named Jon knocks Aubrey’s phone out of her hand while arguing with his wife, and the screen shatters. Aubrey screams at him, but he keeps walking. Aubrey rebooks a flight for 6:30 AM and decides to spend the night at the airport. Aubrey is kind of a bitch to everyone working TBH. It’s Christmas, lighten up!

Aubrey’s sister goes into labor. As they talk, the phone cuts out due to poor cell service. Aubrey meets a handsome stranger named Finn and makes small talk while they people-watch. There is a fighting couple, Jon and Leigh, an elderly lady named Vivian, and a creepy janitor who is pretty chill. Aubrey tells everyone about her nephew, but no one cares.

Finn, Vivian, and Aubrey eat Christmas burgers and drinks. (WHAT IS A CHRISTMAS BURGER?!?!?)

What kind of uniform is this?

Aubrey gets a burner cell phone, and a worker named Claire shows her the backway to a parking garage to get better service. The landlines are also down. (I don’t usually care about plot holes, but this seems illogical.) Aubrey still can’t get through, and someone in a white van is watching her. Aubrey goes over to the van and hears someone pounding from the back. She tries to call 911, but the call fails. Instead of going to the security guard with whom she had an altercation earlier, she asks the janitor for help. He touches her arm, and Aubrey freaks out and runs off. “LET GO OF ME!”

She had to have pigtails?

Back by the van, Aubrey uses a tire iron/hammer to open the back door. The person inside is the young girl from the beginning of the movie. Her name is Chloe, and she is handcuffed to the floor of the van. As Aubrey tries to get Chloe free and asks questions, the kidnapper gets back into the car. The kidnapper’s cell phone goes off, and it has a very distinct ringtone. (Unfortunately, not, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”) They leave to take the call. It is apparent that they have a signal.

Aubrey promises to go get help and rushes through the airport. Leigh approaches Aubrey and apologizes for her husband’s grumpy behavior. She wants to say more, but Jon watches her menacingly. Not knowing who to trust, Aubrey questions the group about how they got to the airport, thinking someone would admit to driving a van. She decides to take Finn to the van, but when they get there, it is gone. Finn says they should talk to security and low-key gaslight his new friend.

Low key hot

The security guy is a dick and will only help them for a $50 bribe. They look through security footage, and there is no van. When Aubrey shows him her phone, her notes about Chloe are gone. Security tells them there is nothing to report, and it is the middle of a winter storm. Finn tries to calm Aubrety down, and she tells him about her parents dying in a car accident. Finn also admits to having a rough family life. He finally believes her about the girl in the van and suggests they talk to the group.

I’ve never seen a phone like this before, and I had a Nextel once!

While they take the elevator, Finn’s cell phone goes off. It is the same ringtone she heard when she was in the van. Finn has a satellite phone! (IDK what that even is.) Aubrey returns to the parking garage alone and finds the van covered with a large sheet. (What is it, an invisible cloak?) Finn follows her, and it is clear he is the bad guy. The security guard is also part of the scheme.

This time, Aubrey gets Vivian and shows her Chloe, and Vivian seems reassured that they will contact the authorities. Aubrey gives Chloe some scissors and a box cutter to protect herself.

Vivian and Aubrey drink from a flask while Vivian suggests suspects, who conveniently enough, aren’t her. Aubrey suddenly feels woozy and passes out. She has been drugged. When she comes to, Aubrey is tied to a chair in an abandoned part of the airport. Vivian explains that Finn is her son, and her black sheep, Jason, is in prison. Vivian and Finn kidnapped Chloe because she is Vivian’s granddaughter. Jason’s ex-wife cut off his family from Chloe after he was put in jail. Vivian and Finn plan to escape to Canada.

I could watch sign language conversations all day

Aubrey breaks free and rushes to the couple and the janitor. Jon is deaf, which is why he seemed rude, as he ignored Aubrey after she yelled at him when he broke her phone. They all want to help, but the security guard stops them. Jon gets some EDA pads and shocks the security guard, knocking him out.

Christmas Baby and Mom bounced back quickly!

Leigh and Jon volunteer to venture out into the storm and get help while the janitor, a waitress, and Aubrey try to find Chloe. Everyone walks around the airport and whispers, “Chloe.” Eventually, Aubrey and Vivian have a drag out on an abandoned School bus. The police arrive and take Vivian and the security guard into custody. Finn is MIA. 72% of kidnappings are by relatives. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS?

Wait! I totally missed the end of this movie. On a rewatch in July, I learned that Finn breaks into Aubrey’s apartment and blames her for his mother and brother being in jail. Aubrey does the unthinkable and uses a Christmas tree as a weapon to get away. Finn tells Aubrey that they would have made a cute couple before she stabs him in the heart with a syringe. Police sirens blare in the background. The end!

Side Note/Stray Thoughts

Don’t overthink getting through TSA for this one.

I swear the original airing cut the last scene.
