At the height of the holiday season, two strangers team up to rob one of London’s most famous department stores while accidentally falling in love.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Sophie works at a struggling mall for the holidays. She sneaks into security to steal some money and is caught by a phone IT guy, a bumbling Brit named Nick. He sees Sophie steal an expensive dog collar and visits her at the mall with a flash drive of the incriminating footage.
Nick tries to blackmail Sophie into stealing more from the mall security room, but Sophie says no. That is, until her mother’s UK health insurance won’t pay for her cancer treatments. He needs to get child support for his young daughter. Nick and Sophie team up for.. A JINGEL BELL HEIST!
To start the heist, they create a diversion in the mall by claiming the hottest toy of the season, Mushy Fox, is sold out! Sophie dives into the security office while they are distracted. There is only one problem. Someone has beaten them to the jewels.
The security guard is fired, but he isn’t the culprit, of course. Sophie sneaks into the mall owner’s office, Mr. Sterling, and finds a secret door with a Castor Lock. Nick will need time to crack the safe. Sophie pretends to be a high-end client in need of a safe.
The two dress up as Santas to go to Santafest and end up making out as a cover while breaking into a security system to practice. The problem is, they need an authenticator code from Mr. Sterling’s cellphone.
Since that plan doesn’t work, they decide to crash a gala to get close to Mr. Sterling and his socialite wife. They will steal his phone and crack the safe. Nick puts on a tux, and Sophie grabs a fur jacket. They talk on earpieces, and Nick tries to seduce Mrs. Sterling, but while playing telephone, Sophie talks to Mr. Sterling. Mrs. Sterling know who Nick is and makes an offer to set up her husband.
Back at the mall, Sophie closes up on Christmas and hides in the store with Nick. They put on Christmas ski masks and blast Christmas music from a Bluetooth speaker to distract security on duty. They get into the room, but it needs a DNA sample. Good thing Sophie is Mr. Sterling’s secret illegitimate child. Her DNA opens the room.
A sneeze due to a flower allergy gives them away, and the police arrive on the scene along with Mr. Sterling. It is a reverse setup, and all the stolen jewels are back in the safe. Mr. Sterling was stealing from the store and making insurance claims.
Sophia and Nick get away and split the money with Mrs. Sterling. Then they make out and live happily ever after. The mom probably dies. RIP.
