Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie starts with a sexy music video shoot with lots of shirtless hunks in booty shorts. Eden Chase is a knock-off Katie Perry pop star.
Studio Security finds the popstars phone, and she is thankful for his thoughtfulness and good looks. His name is Jackson.
When Ede and her backup dancer, Addison, and manager Colette, are held at gunpoint and almost kidnapped in the parking garage. Jackson saves them and gives them his card for private security if they feel it is needed.
Christian, her ex-boyfriend, shows up at Ede’s house with a knight in shining armor complex. She tells him she can take care of herself and doesn’t need no man!
Eden has a pool party and notices some stalker take-out trash near the pool. (Even stalkers need nourishment!) Eden decides to call the hot security guard and asks Collette to do an interview/background check on the hunk. He passes and is hired to protect the international superstar.
Needless to say, our boy gets the job and promptly goes on a jog in an excessively cut-off shirt. He tells Eden that he has a gun and assures her not to worry.
Ozzie, Eden’s music producer, pressures her to sign on for another album and gets handsy in their meeting. Jackson is sure to stay close by to let Ozzie know he is watching him.
While Eden thinks about what to do for the next album, she makes tacos with Jackson. Including margaritas!!! They bond over being from the south and talk about house rules. (Pretty much the only rule is don’t touch her laundry.) Jackson shares a tough upbringing, including an absentee father, fatally sick mother, and sister who committed suicide after a breakup.
Dance/workout montage happens! Woooooo!
While getting a towel from the laundry room, Jackson steals some panties. JACKSON! THERE WAS ONE RULE!
Eden meets up with Christian at a restaurant for dinner, and Jackson watches on from the bar. (Which is his job, so it isn’t creepy.) When Eden and Christian almost hook up, THAT is when Christian shouldn’t be watching, oh but he IS. He is jealous.
Eden lays down some vocals in the studio, but Ozzie isn’t feeling it. (And neither am I.) Ozzie slut shames Eden for going out on a date and patronizes her calling her a “little girl.” Jackson doesn’t like what he sees and strangles Ozzie from the back seat of his car, classic.
Jackson leaves the bandana that the stalker used to cover his face, so it looks like it was the same guy.
The murder doesn’t stop the promotional machine. Collette plans an album preview party for Eden.
Jackson and Eden drink and totally makeout after an evening chat. Eden stops it before things go to far, he grabs her arm and demands she stays, but Eden stands up for herself and says she has had too much to drink. Jackson takes out his aggression on a punching bag then he puts a tracking device in Eden’s purse.
Collette thinks Eden should fire Jackson, but before she can talk to Jackson, the manager is strangled with a mic cord.
It is the night of the album preview party, and Eden thinks it is weird that Collette has gone MIA. Not weird enough not to sing her new single. Lee Vance, her ex-boyfriend, shows up and crashes the party. Eden’s friends come to her defense, then Jackson steps in and escalates things to extremely violent. (Like murder with a flashlight violent.)
Once the party-goers leave, Jackson chains the gate closed.
Christian takes a shower while Eden and Addison investigate a noise. It is the random guy who attacked them. They run upstairs to find their cellphones missing.
Then pop music starts blasting through the house. A note is taped on the door, it is Jackson’s suicide note. Which is Eden’s lyrics taken out of context.
Jackson admits to everything. He killed everyone who made the song a hit and has a few people left on his list. They run away and find the chained gate. They fight him off, but Jackson kills Addison too. Then he pulls a gun on Eden.
Eden says that she isn’t responsible for his sister’s death. Eden uses the self-defense techniques that Jackson taught her to save herself. She cries in Cristian’s arms because he is the only one left.
