Recap/Wine Thoughts

The movie starts in Yellowstone, as promised!

Jessie and her daughter, Michelle, are on a road trip to Canada and randomly decide to stop by Yellowstone. The mother seems WAY more into it than her teenage daughter. They stop at a local diner, and a hot park ranger named Nolan takes an interest in Michelle and flirts with her by giving her bear tips. Jessie gets upset with her daughter for flirting with a man in uniform because she wants to lay low.

Back on the road, the mother-daughter duo runs into some car trouble and have no cell signal. Jessie decides to walk back to the diner because they have no cell service. Michelle stays behind after arguing with her mother over her parent’s divorce.

Jessie finds an auto shop and inside finds a shirtless hunk named Grant, who has no business being so sexy. He offers to help.

Meanwhile, Michelle waits for her mother and is excited when she sees the Park Ranger drive past. Nolan looks under the hood of the car and offers to give her a ride back to the station. She agrees and is then quickly syringed in the neck by the bad (but hot) Park Ranger.

When Jessie and Grant return, they find Michelle missing. Grant calls the police, despite Jessie’s objection. When Officer Stoddard arrives, Jessie lies to him and tells the cop that it was a false alarm. Confused, Grant goes along with the story. When Office Stodder looks up Jessie’s license, she is flagged to be detained for questioning in the kidnapping of Michelle. Jessie tries to explain that her husband is abusive. She knocks the office on the head, and they make a run for it.

Nolan takes Michelle to a cabin in the woods and puts her in bed. She is woozy and confused, but Nolan assures her that he will call her mother. Then he makes her a roofie sandwich. Michelle starts questioning Nolan’s credentials and catches him in a few lies. She also finds a body wrapped in the shower and grabs a rifle to defend herself. Nolan gets VERY violent with Michelle.

Jessie and Grant head to the Ranger station and learn that Nolan is a LIAR/Ranger impersonator. Next, they wait for him at the diner but don’t have any luck. The next morning, Jessie sees Nolan and heads inside to flirt with him. Then she pulls a knife on him.

Somehow, Nolan escapes and guns down Grant and his buddy at a bus station. He ties Jess up in the basement of his cabin and is generally creepy. (Like making out with her while talking about skinning her daughter.) He also has Michelle tied up in the cabin and harasses her maniacally.

Grant survives his bullet wounds. He tells Officer Stoddard about Nolan, who puts out a radio call.

Bear traps surround the cabin, and Jessie manages to use them to her advantage. After freeing herself, she drags a trap and lures Nolan to her. He screams in pain as Jessie rushes into the cabin to free her daughter. Nolan crawls around and still somehow seems threatening to the women, who clearly have the upper hand.

A bear shows up and finishes him off, which I have to say is a first for Lifetime. Michelle and Jessie run away to safety.

Grant recovers while “watching vampire shows” and invites Jessie and Michelle back to visit him. The divorce has been finalized, so Jessie and Grant are free to make out now. The end!

*** I’ve updated the rating system moving forward. Knives represent # of kills. Wine is over enjoyment (NOT a value judgment) on a 1-5 scale.

I will use the following tags for those who want to know whether to watch or skip: Pour it Up (Would Recommend) or Put A Cork In It (Would Not Recommend).
