In the second holiday story inspired by Scotty McCreery’s song ‘Five More Minutes,’ a young widow’s Christmas wish for her son is answered in unexpected ways when she returns to their old home for the holidays.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
Kaitlyn and her husband put their cute kid, Adam, to bed on Christmas eve. He begs them for five more minutes, and then Kelly Carlson comes out and sings a “A Moment like This.” (Okay, not really.)
Kaitlyn and her husband listen to records, then the husband remembers a bell he needs to for his son. He has a stroke while driving and dies.
Four years later, Kaitlyn has gotten a “Widowed Mom” short bob and works as a photographer. Adam is not doing well emotionally since his dad died. He is a loner, and his teacher is concerned enough to bring it up to Kaitlyn, who is upset. She makes a Christmas wish for five more minutes with her husband, Brian. (Didn’t we learn ANYTHING from The Money Paw?)
Kaitlyn returns to Colorado to visit Brian’s family, and her sister-in-law, Maddy, suggests she sell the home she shared with Brian. The house has been vacant since she moved to LA with her son. Kaitlyn wats through the house (Which is beautiful) while hyperventilating.
Upset, Kaitlyn walks through town and feels her feelings. She sits on a park bench and talks to a handsome stranger named Matthew. She tells him about the house, Brian, and her son. He tells her a house joke.
“What does a house wear… Address.”
Matthew turns out to be a property developer. He also volunteers at the food bank, and it just so happens that Kaitlyn’s family tradition is volunteering. They run into one another again, and Matthew, just kind of, hangs out. Katalin is like, “Dude, you can leave now.” She feels like he tricked her and tried to win her over for sale. Matthew insists that it wasn’t his intention and apologizes.
They begin to do small fixes to the property together with Adam and work at the food pantry. Adam is very into volunteering and suggests hosting a Christmas food drive to help even more people.
Random little boys keep coming to Adam and having them chase him. They lead him to another kid named Skye, who becomes his friend.
Nikki Deloach shows up to show everyone how to make Luminaries. (The Hallmark actor cameos this year have been fun!)
Matthew and Kaitlyn are both at a crossroads in their lives. They go to dinner, have too much wine, and have a nice time. Kaitlyn realizes that she is starting to feel for him and runs away. The next day, she hides from him.
Matthew is up for a new job that would take him to New York, so they decide to just be friends.
Adam gets his picture taken with Santa, and Santa tells him that he seems like he has a lot on his mind. The Santa knows his name, and when Adam turns around to ask him, the Santa is gone.
While tucking in Adam, he asks his mother to move back. Kaitlyn is shocked and tells him they can’t because she is up for a job in Europe, and they will be moving out of the country.
Matthew tries to convince his boss/father to not redevelop the property because it means so much to Adam and Kaitlyn.
As Kaitlyn goes through some old things in the garage, Brian comes to her as a ghost. They dance, and he tells her that she is going a great job raising their son. He has been sending Adam messages, and the last one is a picture of him with Matthew from High School. They were on the same football team. He approves of the budding relationship.
They all decide to stay in Colorado! Adam is overjoyed and Kaitlyn is excited to start her new life with Matthew. (Since she has Brian’s approval!) The end!
