When Lauren gives up the corporate life and a cheating boyfriend, she joins her best friend from college working aboard a luxury yacht in the South Pacific. As her first voyage sets sail, she falls for handsome entrepreneur Mark but things take a dark turn when he’s revealed to be already engaged and his fiancee mysteriously disappears while the yacht is at sea. Stars Harley Bronwyn, and Alex Trumble (2024).
Recap/Wine Thoughts
inspired by Actual Events
Lauren takes a surprise career change from her boring office job working on a private yacht named Song of Songs. (Her mother REALLY disapproves of working on a boat.. not the name.) Lauren meets her co-workers. There is Naomi, Lauren’s BFF, Australian Captain Liam, and a boring girl named Sarah. The boys on the crew go all unnamed and don’t matter, apparently.

The new crew chief, Amy is a no-nonsense person who has everyone prep the boat for a high-end client. Lauren and Amy laugh while cleaning. They eventually end up in the hot tub in bikinis with a bottle of champagne.
Mark, the high-end client, boards the boat and wants to lay low. Amy and Mark have a history, and it seems that Amy took the job to get closer to him. Another wealthy couple and Captain Liam’s girlfriend are also on board.

Lauren hits it off with Mark, much to Amy’s dismay. Mark keeps pursuing Lauren, and they discuss her dream of becoming a recruiter. (Haha, hey, everyone needs a dream.) Mark tells Lauren she is a rule breaker as they flirt and drink champagne after hours. Mark goes off to get another bottle as Amy lurks in the background, watching the fraternization go down.
(And by fraternization, I mean SEX! Amy is creepy!)

Lauren and Matt don’t even TRY to hide the fact that they are canoodling and frolicking on the beach. Lauren tells him that she doesn’t want him to think she slept with him just to land her business deal. She assures him that her intentions are genuine. Lauren doesn’t want Mark to be her sugar daddy; on the other hand, I am OK with that!

Dana Adams, a famous model, rides up on a boat to join them. It is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. Dana Adams is Mark’s fiance, and Lauren is upset she has fallen for another philanderer. (Her ex-fiance also cheated on her.) Dana Adams acts like she is totally oblivious to Lauren’s feelings for Mark, but she knows Mark and what he is up to. There is no ill will or tension between them, which is refreshing.
Mark and Dana Adams get into an argument late in the evening. She breaks up with him because he makes her his 10th priority and doesn’t love her. Dana Adams threatens to reveal his past affairs with employees and board members, which are a conflicts of interest.

Lauren is awakened by the sound of a splash and goes out on the deck to look into the water. Mark catches her and ominously stands over Lauren. Amy intervenes and sends Lauren to bed. The next morning, Dana Adams is not on the boat. Mark tells the captain that she left early…. (AND THAT WORKS?!?!?) There is also a missing decorative anchor.
Mark becomes more threatening and intense but no less hot! Lauren follows Mark around in a port city and is concerned that Dana Adams has been murdered. Naomi sees Dana Adam’s posts on social media in the last two hours and lays Lauren’s concerns to rest. (Well, not really!) The friends decide to break into the security room and review the cameras for evidence. They see that the footage from the night before has been deleted.

Naomi and Lauren steal Mark’s room key while he enjoys the hot tub. He realizes his key is missing and almost catches Lauren in his room, but she hides in the shower. They go to Amy, who is unsurprisingly defensive of Mark.
Sarah, the boring girl, ends up dead, and I’m just happy it wasn’t the Black best friend, for once! The captain finds the body and rules it an accident. He decides to turn the charter around. Mark’s assistant Rudy thinks foul play is at hand. Sarah didn’t drink. She couldn’t have drunken stumbled down the stairs.

The dead people keep piling up, and Dana Adam’s body washes to shore. Lauren overhears Mark and Amy arguing about not properly securing Dana Adam’s body to the anchor. Mark killed Dana in a fit of rage, and Amy helped him cover up the crime.
Lauren and Naomi try to get a confession out of Mark. They amplify his confession to the whole ship over walkie-talkie. Everyone hears the conversation and rushes to the captain’s cabin.
Amy attacks Lauren with a knife while Rudy stops Mark by punching him in the face. Amy tells Lauren that she is in love with Mark. She lunges at Lauren with the knife. The Captain grabs Amy and holds her until the police arrive.

Lauren decides boating isn’t for her and goes back to corporate life. Naomi gets promoted to chief, and the captain renames the boat Sarah’s Song.
Side Note/Stray Thoughts
I’m not going to be thirsty over Alex Trumble! Even though he is hot. Right? Aren’t y’all into him? Is it just me? Okay, bye!
Nice change of scenery for a Lifetime movie.

The actor who plays Mark always plays Sleazy to me. No matter his role. Unfortunately he just has that look of can’t be trusted. Even walks silly. 😆Sorry Patrick, can you tell I don’t find him attractive. Anyway…Really Lauren?, first day of meeting when you can tell something was off with him and Amy? And Amy is just plain sad. The dirty looks Mark would give Lauren-Hilarious! Why do people confess they have evidence in front of the suspect, so that it can be destroyed 😮💨
Less competition for me then! I did notice he has a silly walk, maybe it was a character choice!
So true bout the black BFF. For once. That’s gotta be the first damn time. Maybe this will start a trend on lmn. Stop killing off the black BFF. And stop making them the suspect and or villain like in other lmn movies.
I agree. Although it would be nice for the roles to be reversed every now and then and they are not relegated to the BFF
Very good movie.
Alex Trumble’s character dropped the S bomb thirty minutes in and it was left uncensored! I only noticed this on my second watch.
We love that for him!
Amy is a hidden villainess.
Amy is a crew chief on a cruise ship that had main protagonist Lauren on its staff; however, her backstory revealed that she was the mistress of tech entrepreneur Mark Barron, having began their illicit affair a year prior to the events. Mark was engaged to influencer Dana Adams, but as time progressed, Amy was prohibited from seeing Mark due to his legal issues, leaving Amy obsessed with seeing her illicit lover again. Amy turned heel in her quest to see Mark, doing so by eliminating the ship’s previous crew chief so she could take over, and then use her power to get Mark aboard the ship.
Amy started flirting with Mark, who later briefly hooked up with Lauren until Dana ended up on the ship to join Mark. Dana suddenly disappeared, with the film’s progression revealing that she was buried at sea. An encounter between Amy and Mark revealed that the latter brutally murdered Dana by bludgeoning her to death with a figurine, while Amy helped cover up Dana’s murder. As they were discussing their latest scheme, they were overheard by Sarah, another crew member, leading to Mark killing Sarah to keep her quiet.
The film’s climax saw Lauren record Amy and Mark’s admission, as well as their plan to frame Lauren for the murder, which included Amy planting Dana’s phone in Lauren’s room. The villainess later reported Lauren to Captain Liam, resulting in Amy detaining Lauren and tying her up, while also tossing Lauren’s phone into the water. After being freed by friend/co-worker Naomi, Lauren confronted Mark and managed to get a confession out of him for everyone to hear, with Amy arriving to warn Mark, only to be too late. Afterwards, the evil Amy attempted to kill Lauren and reveal her obsession with Mark, as well as the fact that she took out the previous crew chief as part of her plan. After Amy was subdued, she was handcuffed and arrested, along with Mark.
Me encanta esa película y los actuaciones muy bien y muchas Gracias por el sinopsis es que casi no oigo bien por eso siempre busco la explicación la chica Sarah no debió haber muerto era inocente
