Synopsis (via Lifetime)
Wanting to ensure she gets into a great college, a student becomes involved in an admission scandal.
Recap/Wine Thoughts
The movie begins with Anni being held at gunpoint, begging for her life.
Flash to two weeks earlier, Anni is a nerd who is worried about getting into college. She has to raise her test scores to get into a good university. Her friend Katie is all about boys and parties but got early admission because her (An actress) mom “knows people.” Katie steals her mother’s phone and texts the guy who got her into school and asks him to do the same for Anni. It will cost 50K
While she is studying, a college hunk named Rilley gives her some math advice. He happens to be a college admission tutor for a charity called “Educating Youth” and gives her his card.
The girls go out to party and see their friend Si getting beat up in an alley. Katie admits to paying to get Anni into college. Anni demands that Katie undo it, but it is too late.
At another college party, Anni runs into Rilley. He tells her that she will fit in nicely. Katie is wild at the party, and Dev aggressively tells her to lay low she is drawing too much attention to her cheating ass. Anni defends her friends and then asks Nathan, a boy she likes, to give her a ride home. He says yes, but is attacked in the parking lot. Both Si and Nathan go missing.
Katie takes Anni to meet with the SAT cheating guy. Anni has to get a doctor’s note to sign off on her having anxiety to take the test in a private room; then the man will take the test for her.
Anni tries to talk to her parents and ends up inadvertently tells her mom that Katie paid to get into college. Anni’s mom freaks out and tells Anni to stay out of it. She freaks out even more when the mom is attacked and threatened in front of the house.
Katie wants to cancel the whole thing because Si is dead, Nathan is still missing, and her mother is getting more suspicious. Katie says she is in too deep to undo things now.
Katie’s mom finds out about the 50K that her daughter promised and is livid. Katie doesn’t know what she has gotten involved in. Rilley finds Katie backstage at the school theater, and cooly tells her that she owes him $300K. When she slaps him, he throws her off the stage and sends her into a coma.
A hitman visits Katie in the hospital and demands the 300K from Katie’s mom and Anni.
Anni’s mom and dad get involved. It turns out that Grant is the lawyer for the hitman!!!???? Anni comes clean to her mother and tells her mother everything. Jennifer confronts Lisa about the college admission scandal, which is movie is NOT based on that want you to know. The women confront the hitman, and he tells them if they turn him in, he will take them down with him.
The guidance counselor of the school knows too much and is murdered randomly.
Anni gets a text from Nathan asking her to meet him in an abandoned warehouse. Rilley is there, and he is way less hot with duct tape and a gun. He ties her up and puts her on a webcam to extort money from her father. Grant watches Anni from a computer in the hitman’s office.
Jennifer shows up with a bat and beats Rilley to save her daughter and Nathan. Then she grabs his gun and shoots him. Anni and Jennifer drag Nathan to safety. He is badly beaten, but alive.
Anni takes the SAT on her own and gets into college. Katie also goes to college, but her mother goes to jail.
Side Note
Minority Report: Regina, Ben, Detective, Dev,
Way better than the College Admission Scandal movie Lifetime rushed. (Still not THAT great tho)
